Getting bored on soft food..UGH!

Recommended Posts

I am getting so bored with the soft food!! There is only so much applesauce, scrambled eggs, tuna fish, mashed potatos, pudding, Jell-o, yogurt and grits a person can eat!!! I know, I know...there are probably a variety of things to eat but right now I am in the process of moving offices and I guess I am doing ok...just need some fresh ideas to kind of liven up my menu!!! Does anyone have any ideas? I haven't had my first fill yet either...does that make a difference? I did read one thread that talked about eating McDonald's and I have to admit that I had their fish sandwich and I took off the bun and ate it slow and it went down pretty well...missed the fries but had some Jell-o instead!

Hi!

Congratulations on your band! When was your surgery?

I was banded 9/19 and have notyet had a fill either. I couldn't agree more that I am sick of the soft foods. Plus, I have never liked tuna, eggs, Jello and mashed potatoes (unless homemade).

How are you doing with amount of food you can eat? I can only eat about 2-3 tablespoons of food, and at the pre-op class they said that would be from post surgical swelling. I believe how severe the swelling is will affect when I get my first fill. I will say that it helps restrict my intake.

I long for a spaghetti, Meatball & garlic bread meal...mmmmmm With a coke! Dream a little dream...ha ha

How are you healing? I hope you do well!

ps - your starting weight is my short term goal weight!

It is really weird...at times I can eat and not feel that full and other times I fell like if I have another bite I am going to explode. When people say that they can only have 2-3 tablespoons it is the total opposite of me. I can have a whole package of grits with a scrambled egg and be full. Although before that I could have double that! LOL...I guess I am downsizing! It has been 19 days since I had my surgery and I really feel like I never had the surgery physically...scars are minimal, bruising is gone and soreness is gone. I get the munchies and I have a Jello w/fat-free whipped cream or a applesauce or sugar-free popsicle. And when I get that full feeling I stop.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
