Thinking about getting 1/4 cc removed - should I wait?

Recommended Posts

Since my last fill, things have been pretty tough. I can barely take my morning medicine. Nothing but liquids pretty much of the day. I managed some yogurt over an hour period and it gurgled until I thought I'd go insane. I usually get sick at dinner. Tonight is the test - trying to just eat a little solid food - if it won't go then I think I need to get a little out? I just can't decide if I should try to wait it out and see if things get better.

I am not getting my Protein but I am managing enough liquid. I know I can drink Protein drinks but I don't want that to be my life.

Any suggestions?

how long ago was your last fill? are you able to keep liquids down? if its only been a few days you may need more time for your swelling to go down. if its been awhile then you need to go back to your doctor ASAP. and if you cant get liquids to stay down you should go to the ER if necessary

I had a .5cc fill yesterday and I struggling with just getting liquid down. So far today I've only been able to eat 1/2 yogurt and drink one 8oz glass of cranberry juice. I don't want to call to get anything removed so I'm really hoping things settle down in a day or two. I've never had this much restriction after a fill. Although it stinks - it's nice to know that I am finally feeling my band.

Cookie and Auggies how many ccs do each of you have in your bands? I am going for my 3rd fill and I was going to ask for 1-2 ccs. I am getting worried that I may ask for too much. I went in 2 weeks ago and the NP only gave me .5 ccs for a total of 3.5 ccs. I have no restriction at all. I know everyone is different, but maybe you all can give me an idea of what is too much for you.

I was at 4cc and now i'm at 4.5. The nurse (I think that was who it was) told me that most people get 6cc before they hit their sweet spot. Although everyone is different and this is just the average.

I was disappointed when the doctor said he'd be putting in .5 - I was hoping for a full cc. Now I'm very happy that he only put in .5.

Thanks Auggies. I hope this fill works out for you. Please let me know in 2-3 days how things are going for you? I am going for my fill on 7/28/09.

If you can't get liquid down, you'll get dehydrated and end up in the ER. Dehydration can happen VERY fast...it is dangerous. Forget Protein, concentrate on Water. If you can't get 64 oz down, you need to be unfilled. It's nothing to play around with, ok?

I was filled two weeks ago yesterday. I'm assuming that is enough time for the swelling to go down. I wake up at a normal time in the morning - say 8:30 but cannot eat anything near solid until about 12 hours later. That is NOT a healthy way to live and not how I want to live either. Even before this last fill, I had trouble at Breakfast and lunch. Just wish they told us this was a possibility BEFORE hand.

I have 7 ccs in an 11 cc Realize Band - just thinking I should have gotten 1/2 or 3/4 last time instead of one.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
