Just had my surgery on Tuesday. Things could be better, but I am getting along. Vomited a few times, had to have all Fluid removed from band already cause it hurt to swallow. I am constantly hungry. Can't wait for the initial 4 weeks to be up.

U have Fluid in your band already? Right after the surgery they don't put the fluid in the band until wks after the stomach heals. Is this what your saying or what fluid are you speaking on?

Keep in good touch with your doctor, but hang in there, Derek. The first few days are a bit rough, but it gets better. :cool2:

yes, my doctor had put 1cc in the band to start with which he had to remove.

So does the hurtful gas go away? And the hurting when swallowing sometimes? Right now I feel as tho I just want to rip it out. I want to eat!

The hurtful gas does go. The best way to get rid of it is to walk as much as you can manage. That helps your body absorb it. The painful swallowing also goes. I remember that feeling of wanting to rip the band out and of wanting to eat. It does all suck at first, but after the discomfort passes, I'm sure you'll be glad you went through with getting banded. Hang tough.

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear about your discomfort. I know it won't help you any but I'm in the same boat as you. Throwing up got so bad that I ended up back in the hospital. (That's where I am right now. Been here since Wed) My surgery was last Thursday. I told my husband the same thing you said, I want to rip this thing out and EAT!! Everyone keeps saying it will get better so, I'm gonna keep on keeping on, for now. Keep me updated on how you are doing. Maybe somehow we can get thru this together! Good luck!

Some surgeons actually do put fluid in during surgery - I was under the impression that my surgeon didn't do it, then I went for my first fill last month and turns out he stuck in 4ccs during surgery so it just depends on the surgeon.

also have to remember that there are 2 different size bands, that I know of, regular and large. I have the regular. I wish I had the large at this point. Dr. said it is not as effective. So all these ppl that say they can eat anything, I would like to know what size band they have.

Also with this damn gas, I have a hard time getting in all I need to to keep hydrated etc. I just get bloated and can't take anymore. I have lost almost 15lbs since Tuesday.

There's 2 BRANDS of band the realize and the johnson and johnson brand - The johnson & johnson one comes in like 5 sizes I think - 4cc, 6cc, 9, 10 & 12. And the realise only comes in 2 sizes - Not sure what those are though. It's great that you've lost 15lbs, I didn't really loose much on my post op fluids which was annoying but what can you do? I'm pretty sure I have the biggest size band there is which is the 12. I have 9cc in at the moment and let me tell you I can definitely feel restriction. Last night I had only about 3/4 cup of food for dinner, the night before that it wasn't even half a cup. But I only just got my second fill on wednesday so it may not even last - Just gotta wait and see. As for the gas, have you been walking? I feel bad for those that get the gas because I never had any, no shoulder tip pain either - although I have had shoulder tip pain from a previous surgery so I know how painful that can be. Good luck with everything.

I didn't know those other j&j bands where different sizes. One is called VG or something.

Ya, i have been walking, not miles a day mind you, plus not getting in all my nutrition leaves me kinda weak too.

I would like to know how many mm my opening is?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
