Recommended Posts

Well seeing that everyone is voting on Michigans Best, I must now place my vote:

The BEST WEIGHTLOSS SURGEON IN MICHIGAN

The award goes to Dr.Mark Pleatman

I too checked out all the other doctors in Michigan & encourage you too also. Most are mentioned above. After extensive research my choice was clear -- It was Dr.Pleatman. By the way I am doing very well!!!

Does she do fills under fluorscopy? Thanks!

Not sure to which Doctor your asking about?? Dr.Pleatman (Who is a man) Does fills using a type of ultra sound in his office to locate the port. Flora is usually only used in cases where the port can't be located under regular cirumstances, to the best of my knowledge.(i.e. flipped port)

My boyfriend is being banded November 20th. His Doctor is Dr. Zoe Deol M.D. She is in Troy Michigan at William Beaumont Hospital. I work at Beaumont Hospital and can guarantee you that Dr. Deol is one of the BEST!

ha ha. it seems that we are routing for our Dr.s'. So No. 1 Lap band Surgeon is Michigan in my opinoin is Dr.Deol. This is actually quite objective based on her experience as one of the first involved even in the FDA trials.

I do both band and bypass, and also take care of patients who have had surgery elsewhere.

Hi there! Does that include patients who have been banded in Mexico? From what I'm reading, a lot of people are having trouble finding someone to treat them if they've been banded outside of the US. I don't have anything scheduled and haven't even spoken to a surgeon yet, but I know I would be self-pay (lousy insurance) and Mexico would probably be my only option, as I called the bariatric center in the Flint hospital that does it and was quoted $17,900. In FLINT. If it's that high there, I can't imagine it's anything but higher in the rest of the state, leaving me only one option if I decide to pursue this, and that's Mexico. *sigh*

North Oakland Medical Centers has opened a Bariatric Center. I am the Program Director. We will be doing LapBand as well as lap gastric bypass, including revisions. We do not have any program fees. We accept patient who have been banded elsewhere.

I will continue to run my private practice separately from the Bariatric Center, though time will tell whether or not I put myself out of business!

OH! I just followed your link... are you performing the surgery at N.O. only, or can you do it at any of the other hospitals where you're on staff? $12,500... holy cow. Including everything, even fills. Awesome, now it's time to have the money talk with the hubby! [edit] Oh, one more thing... do you absolutely require seminar attendance first?

I suppose an update is in order. North Oakland Medical Centers closed their Bariatric Center. I am still in practice, however, as usual. I do surgery at many hospitals in the area. I am now affiliated with Harper University Hospital, a certified "Center of Excellence."

The cash prices you see posted on my website ($12,500 for LapBand, $11,500 for gastric bypass or vertical sleeve gastrectomy) only apply at POH Medical Center, where the hospital charge is unbelieveably reasonable. Every other hospital is at least twice as expensive.

I still continue to take care of patients banded elsewhere.

POH.... Oh boy. I work in the medical field too and... well, I'd have to do a lot of thinking about that. I'm assuming it would be outpatient surgery and wouldn't require a hospital stay? Thanks for answering so quickly btw!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
