Well, I was not able to speak with Kari this morning, but I heard them talking to her in recovery as they whisked me out the door, so I believe she made it okay as well. I was in by 6:30, surgery a little after 7:30 and home by 10:45. I have a few aches and pains, but am doing okay.

Kari--hope all went well with you. I look forward to keeping up with your progress. My cell phone number is on the footer to my emails I sent you, so call if you need anything or just want to chat.

Bridget

Hey Bridget! I am back home now as well. Sorry we didn't get to connect while we there. Other than localized pain and a horrible dry mouth, I feel somewhat normal. Glad to hear that everything went ok. One more piece of good news this morning...I had lost another 2 pounds...yea!!! huggs and I will be talking to you.

We did go to the same Dr. back to back. I am also having just some localized pain. Sipping Water all day. Had a little broth. Trying to walk around each hour. I do have the shoulder pain. I feel a bit "stiffer" after having taken a nap, but I've walked around and shaken that a bit. I'll keep you posted as I progress.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
