I ate a DONUT!

Recommended Posts

I did! I had an old fashioned cake donut for Breakfast this morning! I'm full and satisfied. And, I'm so excited again. I know, you're thinking...so what?!

A year ago I would have eaten 2 donuts, a pig in a blanket, AND a dozen donut holes! And, I would have had a large Cappuccino to wash it down!! So, for me, this is major!

No, I won't be eating them every morning, but today it was exactly what I wanted. And, I'm not suggesting that others eat donuts for breakfast. I know the program and I follow it. But, my band isn't a diet program, it's a lifelong process of learning how to eat in moderation. The rest of today I will still be on program because I haven't cheated!!! I ate like a normal person! I love my band!!!!

Thanks for the vent time! Have a great day!

So awesome! A donut early in the morning would KILL ME right now... oh how I wish I could eat one... or anything for breakfast for that matter.

No this is not a diet! It's so sucky being too tight!!! Then, once I get over my sugar addiction - its smooth sailinnnnn.

Pasta is a NO-NO for my band! :frown:I have tried SO hard to eat it, but it always sticks.

And, the donut actually took a long time to eat, because I was kind of scared. I usually can only do a Protein Shake in the mornings. Maybe it was because I ate a late breakfast?!

I have to stay away from anything ICE CREAM. That is my biggest weakness. :) Worse than that, I don't want cheap ice cream, only the best! So, it was an expensive habit! Somewhere down the road it will be just another occasional treat, but not now!!!

I agree, one donut is a bit of a triumph and an indulgence every now and again doesnt kill you. I really think when you really want something, have it.

The only problem I find with that theory is that occasionally I find I really want something mutliple times every single day and i do occasionally have to cut back and go cold turkey, lol.

but I've found I never needed to completely cut out anything to lose weight, just change the balance ever so slightly.

You know what? I understand your elation. I have weird happy moments like this all the time. You are totally correct in that you're in this for the long haul. I firmly believe that we all must find our own balance. Great job!

Juneact - Congratulations. My indulgences change month to month - for awhile It was frozen cookie dough, or gelato.

Funny story - for weeks I had been craving a gyro (just the meat, feta and tzatziki sauce)- was so excited and thought it would go down real well - well for some reason it just did not agree with my band. 1 gyro was like 4-5 meals for me. Wanting it so bad, i tried it for 3 days, even different times of day just so i could enjoy it - never worked! :scared2:

oh well - something will come to mind another day. So you go girl - enjoy the donut!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
