Dr Richard Benavides in Dallas/Richardson

Recommended Posts

Dr. Benavides did my surgery in April, He is great!!!! I love him and his office staff! My sister had surgery in Mexico and is using him for her follow ups and loves him also. He has a great bedside personality! His office staff continually gives me a hard time when I go in the office which I love! In fact, I need to call them, they want me to go out with them one night.

If you need anymore info, just let me know!

I went to a seminar yesterday with Dr. B. He went through the procedure and answered everyones questions. I like the fact that he has done 1500+ cases with no deaths, and he has trained several doctors too.

I asked several questions, and he did not make me feel stupid at all. From what I can tell he was very honest. I asked him if anyone removed the band because they could not handle it. He said he has had some patients that could not take the lifestyle changes, but for the most part everyone is happy. He went through the pluses and minuses of the procedure, and answered very specific questions like it was no big deal. There was also a lady there with a testimonial. My friend and I were very impressed with the whole situation. I did not make an appointment yet, but am still gathering information and filling out paperwork.

It kind of freaked me out when I saw that the band can fill to make the opening the size of a dime. But guess that is the point.

My friend and I drove by the surgery center, and was not impressed by the outside, but guess they can cut you open anywhere, right?

Really liked the staff and the doctor, for all that is worth.

Hi, I'm in the Dfw area and I've recently been approved by United Healthcare to have the surgery and I've chosen Dr. Benavides as my surgeon. I don't have a date scheduled yet. And I havent met him either. His nurses were great though. Does anyone have any tips for the pre-op diet?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
