Help!

I am about 3 weeks post band, I have been eating soft foods mostly, but I admit I have cheated a couple of times. I have not been nauseated at all after anything I have eaten, but for the past few days I am getting sharp pains on the right of my belly button every time I eat. This happens even on the first bite, so I know it's not because I am full. I think my port is right where I am getting these pains. Anyone else have this problem?

Tell your doc...and tell him/her what you "cheated a couple of times" with, and when post op. You may or may not have caused a slip...or it may be healing. let your doc decide, ok? I do not mean to scare you ok? Just check with your doc and find out that things are ok

Genetic;

Listen to Ms. Monkey....she is wise! :tongue_smilie:

BUT....PLEASE, PLEASE commit to staying true to the protocol. No cheating! It's actually more important now then it was during your "dieting days", because you could potentially cause damage to the band "installation", not to mention drastically slowing the losing process.....and that is why you went through this whole surgery process, right?

See your doctor, and make sure that everything is ok. Some people don't see their doctor after something like this because they are a little "ashamed" at having cheated a bit. Well, DON'T feel that way!!! :thumbdown: It's more important that you make sure your band is ok, than what your Dr may or may not say about your 'cheating". If you have a good Dr, he won't be mean about it, but he WILL emphasize that your behavior has to change to make this work!

Let us know what happens!

HH

Yes yes...Like my friend HH said...you don't need to feel guilty. We all have food issues or wouldn't be getting the band and if your doc makes you feel ashamed, well, the shame is his. It's just that eating before you're healed is a major cause of slips and since you have an odd pain, it's safest for you to make sure it didn't happen! (they are RARE but they do happen)

So get checked out then hang in there; it's a short time to suffer but so worth it! :tongue_smilie:

Restless, do you know much about these slips? I transitioned to 'soft foods' and had trouble getting something down. It went down after a bit of struggle and some Water. I haven't had any nausea or 'tossed' anything. No pain now either. If you have a slip do you know right away? I am so worried that I am going to mess this up! :-) I have my follow up on Thursday...can they check for a slip?:)

Texas, I had the same thing happen. I just talked with the surgeon yesterday, and she said that this is normal when transitioning into other foods as you have to get used to pushing them down. She said you will definitely know if the band has slipped as you will probably not be able to eat at all and be nauseated constantly. If your not vommitting and you can eat, I wouldn't worry until you can ask them yourself. Hope this help :)

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
