Am I being a baby?????

Recommended Posts

I had my second fill yesterday. I rec'd an additional 2cc to total 6cc. I felt it right away, hurt to drink Water. BUt I thought it was because it ws just adjusted, so I elected to "tough it out" Still hurt to drink water and after only 2 sips felt like it was coming back up. So, I called the doc and he got me right in, he was paged from the VA hospital. He took out 1cc, to leave me at 5cc. I am still having pain drinking. I have gotten way more down today compared to yesterday, but I can barely sallow a pill, or sallow a drink of water. Do I call again tomorrow? Do I wait it out until Monday? I can't even think about eating mushy of soft solids. Any advise?

Yes if you are in discomfort you should call and notify someone so that a decision can be made. I don't know what kind of post op teaching you received or didn't receive but let me share what we are told. When you go in for your fill it is important to drink a whole glass of Water before you leave the clinic. This is your test run to be sure your not so tight that you can not get Water down. Now some folks have issues with cold water right after a fill because the stomach has had shock of the tightening of the band. So if the cold water doesn't go down they have the patient drink room temp. water. If that doesn't go down the patient gets a slight unfill right then and the water test starts over again. I would advise you never ever take the attitude of toughing it out. This is not a good rule of thumb when dealing with fills. Yes, tough it out when chocolate is whispering "eat me" from across the table, but not when your band is that tight immediately after a fill. Being that tight and trying to eat food could potentially cause you to get "stuck" then the real fun and games begin. Again, yes call them first thing in the morning. I wish you much luck and success in this journey.

Thanks! They had me drink a few sips, but after the past two days, I think I will always stick with your approach of a full glass of water!

I was in the same boat this week. Went in for a fill, and it's been a while. At first he gave me one cc. I knew that would be too much, and it was. So while I was still there, he took out .5cc. The Water still hurt a little, but it was going down. I am always sore after a fill. I can feel water, hiccups, burps, everything hurts. It has never mattered if I was too tight or not. For some reason I always swell a lot after a fill. It takes 2-3 days to begin on mushy foods even, for me. Every body is different and you have to judge your own comfort level. Personally, I figure if air is coming up (burps) and water is going down, even though it may be at a trickle, I know that in a few days the swelling will leave and I will be in much better shape.

As my doctor say..."NEVER EVER put off calling the doctor when u are having pain." And I had that situation of no food going down and throwing it all up and only being able to take in fluids. I went in the very next morning and he took a little Fluid out. I felt so much better.

Thank you all! I called this morning and they gave me the option of coming in and removing all the fuild and then refill on Wednesday. I don't want all my fuild taken out,I want to go back to 4cc. I asked the nurse if I was overreacting. Was/is this normal? She said yes, after asking many questions, but still offered for me to come in. Anyways I decided to wait it out after jillrenee15 post. I am already feeling better. haven't tried to sallow a pill yet. Thinking I will try that tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
