Hello I just started out on the mushy stage. My question is when i started out on full liquids i would feel restricited because i would get pain usually when i drank to fast. now towards the end of full liquid a mushy i need to drink or eat quite a bit to feel this. Could this be from a stretched pouch? i do not yet have a fill. Thanks

You have no restriction right now because you have no fill yet. This is the period they call bandster hell because it is the period between surgery and first fill , where you really have to buckle down and follow the rules even though you are still hungry. Good luck and it does get better.

As you move farther from your surgery date you continue to heal and the swelling goes down which makes things go down easier. Also- as you lose weight your stomach shrinks and the band losens up (for lack of better description). For future consideration- When people are in the green zone and have great restriction they can lose weight and lose that restriction because of the stomach becoming smaller- they then can require another fill to regain the restriction. These are some things that I have learned at my support group. As always- consult with your dr. to review and get feedback. Good luck- looks like you have already had some great success!!!

Hey, everything "comtemplating" said is right on. I would further add what my doc said when i had similar concerns.

I was told the band settles into place but also there is fat on the outside of the stomach and as you lose weight it shrinks and makes the band looser. But since you just had surgery probably swelling is the real issue as already posted.

I'll also suggest that the feeling you described about drinking too fast etc isn't the same thing you will feel once you finish with band-hell..get some fills and truely experiance restriction.

Don't worry..you'll go through lots of questions and feelings over the next few weeks.

Just wait until you are fully healed and discover you can eat a big mac and fries without a problem! haha...that will be your next thing probably (it means you are ready for a fill!)

is there a reason why i would kind of feel pain when i drink or eat to fast and now not so much? is it because i'm furthur out from surgery now?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
