Banded today and doing great!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded today! I was so worried about possible complications, but it went SO smoothly! I woke up and had no pain, no dizziness, and no nausea. My anesthesiologist (sp?) was just terrific!

After I got home, I had a sugar-free Jello and later, a bowl of broth -- no gagging (my fear) or nausea!

I couldn't be happier, and I hope that everyone who has an upcoming band "date" has the same positive experience!!!:(

Thanks,

Sue

Congrats! That is wonderful:)

I was also concerned about complications. I had a VERY botched gall bladder surgery 8 or so years ago. I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. It was my only experience with surgery, and I was so pleasantly surprised when this surgery, especially recovery, went so well.

Remember to sip (as opposed to gulping or drinking fast) and walk walk walk! Good luck!

That's great that you feel so good!! Lucky you ! :(

I am being banded tomorrow at 10:00 am. I am SCARED to death but I think it is still the best thing for me.

My biggest fear is getting stuck and throwing up! I am not used to taking little bites, and chewing unitl it's mush, It's a whole new world for me.

I hope your recovery continues to be a smooth painless road

Congrats.... I can't wait for my date to get here. Did you have to stay over night? I know I will .. not sure what time my surgery is yet but I am way excited. I know when it gets closer the fear will set it. Congrats again and I hope I have a great outcome like you have.. Keep us posted Jennifer

Thanks for the hope that mine may be easy too. I get banded at 830 tomorrow am. I'm nervous. Have kept myself busy all day with friends. Now that I'm alone its setting in and nerves are back up again.

Thanks for the walking tip -- I forgot about that! Right now, it is so hot and humid where I am (temps upper 90's, heat index around 100) that I haven't felt like it! I will have to hit the malls!!

Talk alot and Grandma:

I did not have to stay overnight. I arrived at the surgical center at 6:30, had my surgery at 8:30, woke up around 10:30 and dozed off and on. At noon I walked to the bathroom -- no pain -- just bloat!. I had my Barium swallow at 2:00 and was home by 2:30. Grandma -- I had Water (after my Barium sip) and had no problems keeping it down. I was very worried about that too! I also kept down the Jello and Soup. I just sipped.

Congratulations!!! I am so happy that everything has been going as smooth as possible. I have to ask you how your whole " process " went as far as time? I just began mine and of course I am so anxious I just would love to be given a date lol.

I have United Health and I am not really sure how they are regarding paperwork etc.

Good luck keep up the good work and I hope your recovery is speedy!

I was a self-pay, so my timeline was pretty short. I went to my seminar in May, and then went on vacation. When I got back, I had my consultation on June 15, and my surgery on the 24th. Because my BMI was 36.2, the doctor thought I would be okay to do a shortened pre-op diet.

I have Coventry (insurance) and they did not approve me.

Hello again,

I do not mean to pry into your business but how tall are you , because we weigh about the same except my BMI is 43 I believe. I am 5'1 and weight 226lbs. The Surgeon did not seem to concerned with my insurance so, we'll see I am praying that they will approve.

Thanks

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
