Hello...I will be banded 1 week tomorrow! The week has brought me the ability to sleep on my side and clean the house. I got to thinking (after cleaning today).....is it possible I could slip the band or port by bending over a million times picking up the house and cleaning? It didnt hurt and I didnt think anything of it until after......EEK...what do you all think???

Thanks,

Jill:crying:

I think you should take it easy. It wont hurt you to move around but just be careful in how much you are moving. I think it will help your recovery if you are up and trying to do normal things but be careful about lifting and bending, not so much for a slip but for incision reasons. Consult with your doc though just to be on the safe side. Good luck to you!

Go slow and dont pick up anything heavy for a couple weeks. When in doubt check with the Doc. Good luck on your journey.

My instructions were nothing over 10 lbs for 2 weeks then nothing over 20 lbs for 2 more weeks, after 30 days then just use caution for 2 more weeks. At 6 weeks they said no problems with anything you could do before.

If I understand your post...you aren't worried about recovery so much as living with the band? The others addressed recovery nicely (like any surgery, you need time to heal) but if you are talking about "life" afterward, then YES YES YES you will be able to physically do anything you CAN do. The band won't limit you. Scuba dive, sky dive, and everything on earth in between.

If you're going to go up in the shuttle, check with your doc first LOL Otherwise nothing is off limits...you are limited only by your own physical capacity, not the band.

 It's a wonderful thing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
