I was banded on 04/23/09, and had one fill on 06/02/09 of 1 cc and went back in on 06/09/09 for a second 1cc. If I can get through a meal without pain, (i.e. getting stuck) i am exstatic. I'm not sure if I'm making just wrong choices, not chewing enough or if I'm too tight.

For example tonight, I made a chicken cassarole planning only in eating the meat and veggies. I was starving, so I think I ate the meat too fast... I then spent the rest of dinner, pacing the hall and listening to my husband tell me that it was the wrong thing to eat. The chicken was breast meat, but it wasn't tough or dry. If I eat a meal where I don't get stuck, I am eating about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food....

Your advice and input would be greatly appreciated!!

Talk to your doctor. I had the same problem early on. I would get so hungry that I eat so fast I would take one or two bites and get stuck. My doc ok'd 2 small Snacks a day which made the world of difference. These days I dont always do a snack every day - I just listen to my body.

But yes- it does get better. Its a learning and reeducation process.

Chicken is one food you have to cut up very tiny and chew chew chew!! You then will be ok! And, try not to let yourself get so hungry and it will be easier. I did that early on, but only once or twice. You learn very quickly as I'm sure you now know!! Not fun!

ANEWME,

You are going through the same problems as I am. I am struggling with the 1-1.5 cups of food when the doctors office wants me to eat only .5 cups 3 times a day and a snack. I have 2ccs in my 10cc band. I do think the Snacks help my brain from eating too fast come meal time. I do not feel hungry, but when the meal gets in front of me I eat too fast and I have to tell myself to slow down otherwise I pace the floor and hope not to get sick. I feel like I am head hungry not physically hungry.

Everyday is a struggle, but I take one meal at a time. 44lbs lost... so I am doing something right. Just keep your head in the game. We can do this!

I'm having the same problem. If I skip a snack, I get sooo hungry I can't control my eating. It's a struggle but, I'm trying to learn to eat slowly.

Lanette,

When were you banded? Congrats on the 44lbs. That's awesome.

I am going through the exact same thing!! I just had my first fill last week (4cc) and I have been having a LOT of trouble with pain (feels like indigestion - I get it in my chest and back) after I have eaten certain things...one thing I didn't want to not be able to eat, but I have now realised I just can't eat - bread. I cannot eat bread without having the pain afterwards.

I did manage to eat a very small amount of red meat the other night which I am very happy about cause I love my meat....but I am struggling with eating slowly....and trying to remind myself to take "baby bites"....

I know I'm not overeating 1.I haven't thrown up anything yet and 2.I'm only just managing to get 1-1/2cups of food in at any one time so I guess it really is just eating slower and smaller bites that I need to work on. (I agree that it is extremely hard when I wait until I get hungry - I can go a while without getting hungry but once it hits me...i feel like im starving!!! hahah)

Thank you again, for your replies. I am getting stuck less often now, but I haven't lost any weight for for 3 weeks...

I eat about 1 1/2 cups, and am hungry in about 2 to 3 hours. So, now I'm thinking I need to call and have another fill. Hopefully, I have learned something about chewing and what I can or can not eat, so that after this next fill I won't have to go through the learning process so much.

It is encoraging to know that I'm not the only one out there with this problem.

But, are you eating hard Protein? Anything else and you probably will be hungry in 2-3 hours.

90% of the meal is protien... (ie, hamburger, steak, chicken, eggs) maybe a little veggie thrown in, plus I am waiting 1 hour before drinking beverage. I'm schedule to see Dr's assistant on Friday for another fill.

You are doing everything right so you probably just need another fill!! Some people need several before they get to that right place!! I need another one soon too!! I think I have fill phobia now (afraid of being too filled!!) Good luck to you!

Anew your lucky that your not hungry for 2-3 hours. I was banded last month and after I ate, felt like I could eat again after about half an hour. In saying that I just got my first fill yesterday (4cc's) so we'll see how it goes from there.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
