12 days away!

Recommended Posts

I am 12 days away from bandland! AHHH I'm emotional! Scared! Hungry! Excited! Grumpy! I want to do everything right!

Do you have any advice to give me that I should do now before I go in on the 26th?

I started my liquid phase on Monday. I am not in good shape physically which scares me. I know I should walk more and do more crunches and other exercises. What else should I be doing?

And the grumpiness! Don't you DARE LEAVE A DISH IN THE SINK!

Hey there Sunset

We are in the same boat. My surgery is in 11 days, on the 24th with Dr. Ortiz in TJ. I'm also exited but mostly scared. Where are you having yours done and with whom?

You guys are going to be just fine. Those are the emotions that you go through. What about the "What in the world am I doing", then decide 5 times before surgery that you are not going to do it. You will be just fine as soon as you wake up after surgery and find out how good you feel, verry little pain and then you get to go back to sleep.

For exercise start walking in place for 5 or 10 minutes throughout the day whenever you can. Walking will become your friend. It will move the gas out of your body.

Mine is in 9 days on the 23rd as well. I have been doing little things. I park as far as I can get away from my work and since we have a huge parkinglot that takes up 20 minutes of my day, because from my desk to my car it will take me 10 minutes to get there. I also put my lunch in the a far breakroom. If I want ice or my lunch I have walk there to get it. It gets me away from my desk and gets me some exercise to boot!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
