Shrinking Violets Part 4

Recommended Posts

Story Time.

A couple of months ago, Hubby and I joined a fitness center that has been here for about 7 years. It turns out that alot of people I go to church with are also members there and my nephew was telling that a lot of people he works with also go there. Well anyways, there is this guy that is always there on the treadmill when I get there. There are 4 treadmills, 2 and 2 and he is always on the back one by the wall. I take the one next to him because these 2 are the ones that have the digital readouts that is very extensive and I like that. So I get up there and start walking and we are both keeping pace pretty good, however after awhile he will kick it up and before I know it he is running. Just makes me want to trip him. He runs for about 3 minutes and than winds it down. We are back to our same pace. Every know and than I get a good wiff of him and have to hold my breath for a few seconds till the fans pass by again. So, this morning we get there and sure enough there he is again. I get on the treadmill and off I go with my MP3 player going. Walk, walk, walk. Love it. I get a whiff, yuck. That's ok. It just reminds me that he's there for a purpose and that I need to be jealous of him. Now mind you this guy is probably in his early 60's and if I say so myself, looks like he would be a nice catch for someone,(maybe me in the future). So, he's winding down and I happen to look over at his monitor to see how far he goes and yup, there it is in flaming red color, 27.1 miles. OH MY GOD. I'm complaining about my measly mile that I do when I go there. Holy crap. If I wasn't is such awe of him doing that I'd trip him. Ok, no more whining for me. I'm gonna get on that treadmill and keep reminding myself that it ain't so bad.

Rick's ankle is pretty nasty looking, and his leg is bruised up. Of course his biggest hurt is his bike! LOL. I went out and looked at it with him last night, and just lost it, the tears were of such relief. Then again laying in bed with him last night thinking what 'could' have been......amazes me, and humbles me in numerous ways.

He rode off to work today tho.....

He works tomorrow, then we have a bazillion things we are supposed to do tomorrow-----few of which will actually happen!!!

He has a company party in the park tomorrow, we are supposed to go to the Hot Rodders show----with the now dented bike! And my parents bought us tickets to go with them to the Bar D---which is a chuckwagon dinner in the mountains. With entertainment etc. My DD is bringing the new bf. We also have tickets to a Blues festival for tomorrow......and I had hoped to fit in time for a pedi and hair cut!

After that, we are on vacation, but tossing ideas around as to what to do. We chose to "stay home" so any little trips will be near by. Banking the $$$ as opposed to going somewhere right now.

Well clock says I have to go to work.....see ya tonight!

Debating on wether to go swimming or not. There are a few pop up showers around. I'll think about it.

Has Heather just completely left us? I haven't seen or heard a word from her. Not even an update on the baby. Oh well.

Kat on vacation. That sounds like a wonderful thing.

Jenn, hope you are getting your house done in time for everyone. I hope all goes well.

I made some chicken salad today so I guess that is what is for lunch. Or leftover spaghetti from last night. Hmmmm.

Make it a good one.

I was just getting ready to send this when on the news they reported that a infant was left in a car for 7 hours. I hope those parents get put in jail. I don't care if it was an accident. No excuses.

If it was an accident, the chances are good that the parents will torture themselves on a daily basis with guilt and self loathing....no need for jail, they will be prisoners anyway. If it was purposeful just so they could go play around and not have to take care of the baby, then yes, jail is appropriate, without a doubt.

Poor baby :tongue_smilie:

Good afternoon, Violets..

I've been cleaning and getting things ready for supper tonight. We're having pork chops (thick cut) with mango chutney, sauteed bok choy, roasted white and sweet potatoes, Tomato and mozzarella salad and angel food cake with fresh strawberries and cool whip for dessert. Hope I can eat more than a couple of bites.

Off to the pool for a little exercise and relaxing before I tackle some more cleaning.

Hope everyone has a good day!

hi girls... omgawd it's so freaking hot here. I went out during lunch to run an errand and I about keeled over while walking from the parking lot into the building. I'm gonna see if I can finish my work real quick so I can get out of here at around 3 and go and get in the pool. The pool Water is probably warm like bath water though.

Judy - your dinner sounds delish! I got a three bean and ham Soup in my crock pot but we're definetly not eating hot soup tonight. I'll put it away for another day... I'll probably ask Juan to take me out somewhere instead. Your pork chops sound yum!

Michelle - love love love your hair! It looks slightly different than before but it frames your face gorgeously. I would keep doing that cut!

Suzie - that was a cute story about the treadmill guy! Made me smile and remember something from a few days ago. Me and Juan were headed to his mom's house in the afternoon and we saw a lady running down the street. Juan mentioned that she was running kinda funny, almost lopsided. But I told him, at least she's moving her ass! Not like us pork dumplings just sitting on the couch, LOL.

i'm gonna get back to work now so I can hurry up and finish. All the big bosses are gone gone gone and I told my boss that I might leave early if I finish and he said sure.

Everyone have a good weekend!

81 here today. The pool is 90.. it was awesome. I did my exercises and then lay on the float for 15 minutes. I have everything ready for company. I'll start cooking in a half hour. I think I'll chill out with Bejwewled on Facebook for a little bit.

Everyone have a good evening!

hi gals, just sitting down for the first time in days

had a bad emotional day yesterday with Kev, I'm trying to get some answers and closure to our past. He is probably going to be admitted to an in patient treatment center to get his mental issues taken care of, which he should have done a year ago when they wanted to put him in there. Anyway... sometimes the truth and honesty helps but hurts if that makes sense.

on top of that, i don't have time for a complete mental breakdown, not even close. I got everything done, yard is mowed, bathroom is done until i take the floor up next week, wall in living room is done, laundry room is cleaned out (it is my office too) so tomorrow, i have to put ice in the coolers, which already are filled, and veggies that were cut tonight on the tray. That should be it!

Tomorrow mornng i'll take pics of the bathroom and post them at some point, I am very pleased except I need to buy a new faucet which pisses me off, the one i have was $250 and that does not make me happy to replace.

anyway, i'm going to run the vaccume and maybe go to sleep, i only got 2 hrs last night, but i did get to watch my all time favorite movie Practical Magic at 1am so that was a bonus

hope you are all doing well and i'll catch up 100% this weekend

Haydee... I say beautiful free wedding sounds great! LOL

that would be my speed... oh wait, doesn't look like that is ever going to happen for me.

anyway... talk to you all later

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me?Β Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me.Β πŸ’œ

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas.Β I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.Β Β I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. πŸ’—

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😢lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. πŸ’œ

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.Β Β And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
