Shrinking Violets Part 4

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls!!

Kids are sleeping and Evan brought his laptop so I'm killing time.

So much to catch up on already!!

Haydee - I absolutely LOVE this last dress you posted!! It is stunning and I think it would be gorgeous on you!! I don't even think you'd have to add any sleeves at all. The only reservation I have is that it looks extremely heavy and after two hours in it you'd be exhausted carrying it around....but man, is it beautiful! So my 2nd choice is the lace-up back dress. BTW, I too think you should exclude Juan from any consultation on the dress!! LOL -- bad juju. Besides, you have beautiful taste all on your own and, most importantly, you'll be stunning no matter what dress you choose. I can't imagine in my wildest dreams that he would look at his bride coming down the aisle and think to himself, "EWWW!! That dress is YUCK!" He will be blown away -- I mean really, have you ever seen an UGLY wedding dress? They're all beautiful!

Kat - have things calmed down at work at all? Did they ever hire a receptionist?? We saw lots of bikers on the road yesterday and I thought of you and Rick....oh, so jealous of you two!!

Jennifer - Take it easy girlfriend! How's the Wellbutriin working for you? Good luck with your event this weekend, I'm sure it will be beautiful! What's the format for the memorial service -- who will be speaking? When I die that's kinda what I want -- just my friends getting together in a casual setting and having a GOOD time!! ...oh yeah, and saying all kinds of marvelous things about me too. LOL

Tracy - I hear yall had 105 degrees in houston yesterday! HA! na na na na na!! It's about 50 here right now. (sorry!...but I will have to come home sometime! )

Laura - Happy anniversary to you and Russell! I thought of you when I was writing the date on Tuesday. Enjoyed the pics, too -- ya'll are such a cute couple. I MISS CARSON!

Michelle - Happy birthday to you!!

suzie - Interesting decision you have to make!! What are the negatives/positives?

Judy - I missed it - did you ever get your pool up and running?

Janie - did you get your computer purged of the virus? That's so frustrating. I think for that reason alone I could never go back to a PC since I've had my Apple. No way.

We had a good trip in to Steamboat yesterday. We got upgraded on the rent car from an Impala to a SEQUOIA! We were so happy about that! We took the scenic route over Loveland Pass and the pic attached is taken from the top at 11,900' where we stopped to take pics. Hannah's girlfriend has never been to the mountains and she has been very fun to have along....as you can imagine she's is blown away by all of it! This is gonna be such a fun trip. Today we're just going to town and putz around town, do some shopping and eating, then this afternoon we're going to Fish Creek Falls which is real close and a short 1/4 mile hike. We can hike beyond that point if the kids want to -- it's all beautiful.

Well, I'll probably be checking in later -- ya'll have a great day!

Terry

the Wellbutriin must be working, today is not one of my better days - Kev and I are talking, i guess in my mind it is closure, but it is not easy, I can still cry and feel on the meds, but I can tell they are definately keeping me from going back to bed and not getting up, so i guess that is a good thing right?

We are going to the cemetary, going to put her in the ground and say goodbye and then back here for the "party". It was so sudden when she died, but i got to tell her goodbye in hospice while they were waiting for her to go. She would want everyone together, and it is going to be nice. Mom used the rest of her money to buy food and booze and since i have the new deck and pool, we figured why go to a resturant where we couldn't just mingle and enjoy family? right

My house is a huge mess because of finishing everything up, so besides cleaning, mowing and setting everything up, i am about to finish painting the bathroom - i was so tired last night i was starting to get sloppy - I have to paint trim and a couple shelves so i can put them back and wash floors

My dd went to the today show today, she was not on tv but was by the door and along the rail, she met Bruno and was so excited.

Good morning.

I thought the virus was gone, but this am I got a notice from the virus place that they removed more trojans.

Terry, that pic looked like a postcard, it is such a pretty place!!! I am jealous!!

I hope you had a good birthday yesterday Michelle!!!

That sampler looks good Laura!!

I don't have a real busy day today at work. Yesterday was kind of a crazy day.

I found that violet thank you cards, and they say thank you for the gift! Should I still send that around? We did have a gift of hospitality? I am sorry I am so late with that. I just remembered last night!!

Let me know, and by the way Haydee I found the cards, they were in my glove compartment on the rental car!! I found them in Kentucky when I went for the map for some reason.

Oh well let me know about the thank you note, otherwise I will just get a generic one to pass around.

Pam I hope you are having a great time!! Enjoy your birthday!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Dr. PAMela!

Wow Terry that place is amazing!! I agree, doesn't even look real.

Also.. LMAO about my dress. I got a package from you yesterday and I'm like huh.. why is she sending me something. Read your note, because I was like "How did I leave that in the house...".... do you realize, I wouldn't have even realized it was gone? Probably ever. I forget everything I have till I look in my closet, whenever anyone borrows/takes anything, I never remember it. Thank you

Glad the Wellbutrin is working Jennifer, Russell was put on it about a month ago, we don't think it's working, but he doesn't see the doc again till Sept. (she is on vacation till then, must be nice).

I was on Wellbutrin for a month once (to stop smoking), I didn't realize it was working till I was off of it, then I realized it just made me generally happy.

Oh I had a dream about you guys last night, we went to Jamaica Sandals (where we went on our 1st anniversary). It was 10 v's, and I know Kat was one of the ones who made it this time. We had a lot of fun, all the free boozing, and Russell showed up when I needed to shower (NO not in a dirty way, he just ran the bath for me, which was weird.. then I couldn't wash my hair in a shower, I kept having to dunk it in the tub).

Was very very weird, I kept waking up remembering weird things we did, and I knew I shoulda written it down, it was funny.. but now I've forgotten most details. Dreams are fun.

hi hi hi!

love that dress Laura, it's gorgeous!

Terry, I loved the last one too but I agree, I think it might be super heavy.

Pammy - glad you're having a great time!! HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Jane - The thank you card was for Laura's parents right? I say go ahead and send it. It's never too late for thank you's.

Okay, so I'm really really trying to convince Juan to have the wedding at his mom's place. We are having a huge wedding there Saturday and I'm getting so jealous just looking at how beautiful everything looks as they are getting ready for it. We could have it there for free! This man is so hard headed. I think what the problem is is that at the beginning of our relationship he had no control. I was in complete control over everything. Things headed south way quick of course. But now that we are stable and that I have given up my controlling ways I think he tries to compensate for never having it in the past by trying to control everything now. I don't care most of the time because I've become pretty laid back about everything but when I really really want my way with something he digs his heels in even more!

I had a crazy dream last night that I was running on a road while Lance Armstrong was biking beside me. We would stop every so often so I could put salve on his feet. So totally random...

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
