Three weeks after surgery and going to a family wedding this weekend...HELP!!!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on May 20th and every thing seams to be going well. I am now down 15 lbs since the surgery. I am on the mushy stage of foods. I am going to a family wedding this weekend. I haven't told any family members of the surgery. How do I get a way with not eating at the reception without anyone taking notice? The wedding is in the afternoon so I will eat something before I go but it will be a long night with tons of food around. Any suggestions?

Not sure what kind of reception you will be at, but there is nothing that says you can't take the food, a little, and then pull the old "play with it on the plate routine" so that people will think you are eating it. If possible, and you are allowed, choose food that you maybe can mush up and eat slowly. Enjoy the company. Talk, laugh and be sociable. Te weeding is about celebrating right? Eating is just a small part of the celebration. Being with your family is the most important part. Be a social butterfly

Believe me, most people really won't notice. I had to go to a family picnic 2 days before my surgery, which I hadn't told most of them about, and only 1 person even noticed I wasn't eating. I told them I had eaten before I came and that I might get something later. They really don't pay attention, especially when they have a plate in front of them. But to make yourself feel better, do put stuff on the plate & move it around, or find something like pudding or Soup that you can have and make it last.

Have fun!

I went to an easter bar b que three days after surgery and kept a drink with me at all times to make sure no one noticed I wasn't eating. I kept making sure everyone had what they needed and focused on feeding my kids. No one even asked if I had eaten. I even ate Jello with the kids.

Mingle around the room, walk around and talk to different people, that way no one even notices what your doing. When it is time to eat excuse yourself and go to the bar for some Water or something, I doubt anyone will notice.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
