Just Banded June 11

Recommended Posts

I was banded yesterday. Just home from hospital today. There was a little pain post op but nowhere near what I expected.

My surgeon told me that when he went in, he found a Hiatus Hernia which he fixed up for me. Am on clear fluids til Monday, then straw diet for 2 weeks, the mushy for 2 weeks. So far so good. Scheduled for a fill in 4 weeks.

ME TOO! ME TOO!

Finally in BANDLAND!!!! And yes the pain is NOTHING like I thought it would be, just the port area and the gas--not much but enuf to be uncomfortable. Oh yeah and my mouth is so dry and throat is like that last few days of a cold--alittle scratch and flemmy.

Before surgery I felt fine until the anestigiologist (sp?) came in then had to sign the dreaded paper that if I DIED... Then he gave me some drugs saying it would relax me and take the edge off the anxiety, I didn't know it would knock me out!! Then I woke up in recovery and they let me sleep and wake up on my own. Which was very nice and weird cuz I could hear everything everyone was saying but couldn't wake up. I just stayed there praising God that I woke up and was not in any pain.

I am still so surprised that it's not bad at all!!

I'm now in band land also. Banded on June 11. I had wonderful care. Had to stay overnight in hospital per surgeon. Glad to be home to my own bed.

I am really glad I had to stay in the hospital overnight I woke up this morning feeling a 100% better, still very sore but not too too bad. Last night i was secong guessing why I got the band. But today I was happy as a kid in a candy store with my decision to change my life and become a healthier me .:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::blush::thumbup::lol::thumbup::biggrin::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2:

A Technical question: How do I add one of those tickers to my sign off. I can't figure it out.

I was banded on the 11th and I feel really good now. I do hate this mush diet but its better than liquid. I sometimes wonder about my doc, most of the posts i read have ppl staying overnight (I was outpatient), and on a mush diet for a lot longer than I am going to be (June28 reg food). Oh well I will see how things go. I did walk half a mile today but could not go any further because of port pain.

I didn't stay over night and was happy about that, but I was great after surgery. To me walking SUCKS!! My port kills me when I walk for more that 10 minutes.

Yes! My doc is all the more activity the better but he failed to mention how my belly would jiggle when I walk and that would cause port pain. I just kind of hold the spot that hurts still while I walk and that helps

I can't quit figure out where the port is. Is it near the top middle cut or down lower and to the left???

Hey all, I was banded June 11th too. It was fine except for the port pain, went and bought a rib support and it really helped, Was only 17 dollars and worth way more, I can walk 3 miles and stand up with no pain.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
