I was banded on Tuesday and all went well. I was told about the excess air that gets trapped in your abdomen since they blow it up like a balloon in order to be able to see. I was told that it would feel painful under the diaphragm and around my heart, almost like a heart attack feeling...but that it would go away in 24 hours or so as my body absorbed it back. It's been three full days now and I still have that awful pain. It comes and goes, but it's still there. I have an appt. with my doc tomorrow so if it's still there I'll ask him about it. Was just wondering if anyone else had it take more than a couple days to clear up??:)

My air lasted about a week. I had it in my left shoulder only and funny thing now is that it is my signal when I am full and should not eat another bite. Weird! A heating pad worked wonderfully for me. Good luck, oh, and walking helped too.

Walk, walk, walk. Also Gas X strips will be your best friend. Grab a box, they are really cheap at places like Walmart. Good luck and congrats on being banded.

Hi All, I am in the same boat. I was just banded this past Friday and the gas pains in the shoulder suck! I have been burping when I drink anything too. But from reading around, it looks normal. Which reassures me. I hoping it will pass before I progress to eating pureed foods as i am still on the liquid diet. All my best.

My gas pains went away in about 2 weeks or so but I had those horrible shoulder pains for about 3 or 4 months! they would come and go but I haven't had any in awhile now.

Congrats on getting banded. I got my band on 6/9/09 too. I have lots of pain in my left shoulder, I hope it goes away soon. What diet restriction were you placed on? I have to go 3 wks with liquids only. The 3rd-6th wk. I start on soft foods.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
