Strap Perfect

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I have been trying out this new thing called the "Strap Perfect" for a few weeks. I bought it at Walgreens for I think $15 for a pack of six (CVS sells them too). The funny thing is that it advertises that it's for shirts that you need a racer-back bra for and to enhance your bust up to another cup size, neither of which is why I got it. I bought it because my shoulders are too round to hold up my bra straps--I think this may be a common issue for us plus size gals, so I wanted to share this.

It takes a little while to get used to (which is why I waited so long to post about it), and the straps are a little tighter on top of my shoulders, but it sure beats having to pull my straps up all day. One of the bad things about big girls using it is that if I want the little plastic piece down lower on my back so the straps are further apart on my shoulders, I have to get DH to do it for me. For this, the box suggests putting the bra on backwards near your waist, putting the clip on, then turning the bra around and putting your arms through the straps--and this does NOT work for anyone whose waist is bigger than their bra  Very minor problem though, compared to what I really use this for.

I'm not trying to sell these or anything, I just thought some of you may be interested if you have the same problem with bra straps that I do!

The website is http://www.strapperfect.com if you want to read about it some more.

Angelico - I bought these too, but haven't had any success. I tried to put on over my shoulders by myself but no go. Then tried the turning the bra around bit and that didn't work either. I had help to put it on and WHOA - I think "the girls" are too big - They were up around my chin. Maybe I'll try it once more, since you have had success....my thought for this was to use it on a bathing suit as it is really pitiful the support you get from swimsuits - and how droopy "the girls" can be.

I will have to check these out. I have rigged my straps with other things to keep them from falling off my shoulder all of the time. Thanks for the info!

I've always put my bra on like that, lol.

I've got two sports bras that have a little clip on the strap to convert them to racer back and I alwasy were them that way because they give much firmer support when I'm running. But they make me flat as an ironing board :-(.

Dont worry, as you lose, bras fit. I always thought I was round shouldered too and bras used to drive me nuts creepin up my back. I was wearing too small a cup, too big a back size, and I fixed that probably after I'd lost only a small amount of weight. But now straps never all off my shoulders, the back stays nice and low and I dont need four hooks!

Yep, I had this same problem. I could never wear regular bras, because the straps would almost immediately fall down. I had to wear these big strapped sport bras. They were ugly, but the only thing that held me together. As I lost weight and my shoulders became more bony and less soft, any bra pretty much fits nicely now. The strap may fall down once during the day, but that is better than ten million times a minute like it was doing. I never did find a solution when I was heavy to my bra problem : / Maybe this is working for some people?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
