When do you eat your last meal?

Recommended Posts

Hi, Was wondering what time is the best time to eat your last meal? ...and what do you eat at your last meal?

Any suggestions would help out greatly!

Thanks!

If you're going to do it, I suggest a couple of days before the surgery. It just makes no sense to me to stuff yourself the night before! Give it time to digest.

Isn't the best time the day before you start your preop diet? As to what - I would say anything you fancy.

Do you mean every night? OR do you mean..."pre-band"?

If it's every night I try to finish at least 4-5 hours before bed time.

If you mean the other; I'll eat my LAST meal right before I die, I'm guessing. Even banded AND restricted I still haven't found a food I like that I can't eat at least in SMALL portions...exactly as my surgeon promised me.

I had to do a preop diet beofre surgery, and my surgeon was very strict, If I was 2 ounces over the weight I was in the office a couple of days before surgery, he would cancel it. So my last "bad food meal" never really existed. I enjoy thios though . Nothing tastes as good as getting skinny feels.

Mine was a week before. And I didn't have any pre-op diet at all. Only liquids 24hrs before surgery and even that was hard for me. Good luck.

Mine was the night before surgery. I had been on my pre-op diet for 10 days and my surgeon said to go ut and have whatever I wanted. We went to Chili's. Check with your surgeon and see what he advise.

15 days before surgery.. well the day before I started my two week liquid diet. And it was sooo great. And you know what I was relieved after it was done. Because I knew that was the last time I was going to live this lifestyle. Very exciting!!! Good luck on your journey!

Got mine planned for this coming Friday. I'm being banded on the 29th. My sorority sisters are all getting together for my final big meal at Cheesecake Factory. I can't wait.

I've been calling it my "divorce" dinner. Me and food are (finally!) splitting up!:)

Don't fret on the "last meal" thing..............

I had my last meal several times b4 my pre-op diet started (LOL) but what I've learned at this point is that I can still occasionally have the foods I enjoy but I only want a few bites of it and can move on.......so, I haven't given up really anything-I just don't crave it anymore and a bite or 2 does the trick.

Sorry, I meant at night what time should you eat your last meal. I have heard 5 hours before your bedtime and I have heard nothing after 7 p.m.

Thanks!

Tami

I usually eat dinner around 5:30 - 6 ish and it's usually Protein and veggies. Sometimes bread but rarely. Sometimes I have an evening snack around 8ish.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
