Basically, it stated my weight and BMI. It included all my co-morbidities, such as hbp, sleep apnea, high cholorestol. Also included my problems I've had with my back and knees, that I've struggled with this weight problem for many years. $40.00 does seem high. I had to also supply 5 years worth of my medical records, such as office visits. I was allowed a one time freebie on that.

Mine did not charge me, but I can see why some would cause it probably takes them as long as a regular appointment to write it.

I had never imagined being charged for that. Wow! I have had the same doctor since I was a kid, and he is the doctor for my whole family. I suppose I got my letter and records in exchange for years of family loyalty...lol!

Actually, my doctor didn't even write my letter. The office manager wrote it, and he signed it. She has known me since I was a highschool cheerleader with her daughter. (Yes, I was the "fat cheerleader", but I was a good one...captain even.) She did as well as he would have anyway.

Yes. I thought it was a reasonable thing to do. It was only about 20 bucks. Mine wrote an extremely convincing letter and it worked! Small price to pay.....

LOL I was shocked when they called me and asked me if I wanted to pay it. I do believe in patient doctor loyalty the longer your there with that doctor the more he will do for you. There is nothing wrong with big cheerleader LOL I can move! my weight doesn't get in my way! LOL

I'm just like the other writer who didn't get charged by their PP, I can't imagine getting charged, I pay my co-pays every visit. That just does not seem fair, but if I had to pay for the letter, I probably would have but complained about it. They don't write the letters themselves anyway, the office manager does and I'm pretty sure it's saved in their computer and all they have to do is change the name and a few diagnosis, etc. Well that said, I hope all is well for you. Good luck and I do wish you well.

thank you much! It doesn't seem fair it really doesn't but I tell you one thing it took me a Nano second to yes i will pay it lol. They get paid very well I mean I get my explanation of benefits mailed to me and I look at it and im like wow ya know like wow and my doctor probably saw me for like maybe an hour. I was almost like this is rude for them to ask me to pay for it.

I'm not surprised that some physicians would charge. I think it would take up a bit of time to go through your chart, review the info for the past 5 years and compose a thoughtful letter. My children's pediatrician charges $10 to fill out very basic physical forms.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
