Calling all august 2008 bandsters!!!

Recommended Posts

Just wanting to know how my fellow august 08 bandsters are doing? As for myself, just a little update.

I was banded on the 18th of august.

On the day of surgery:

weight: 267

pants size: 26

shirt size: 4XL

bra size: 44DDD

As of today (June 4th):

weight: 185

pants size: 16

shirt size: XL put can squeeze into a large depending on what kind of shirt.

bra size: 38D

I have had a hard journey but all the tears and pain have been well worth it. I am hoping to be at 175 by my birthday which is 1 month and 13 days. I think I can make it with a little exta work, but if I don't make it, I will be darn close to that mark.

I hope everyone else has had as much success as I have or even more success than myself. Reply back and let me know.

You are doing great Stacy! Congratulations! I'm very happy with my band too - started at 304 on 8/4/08 and am down to 227 now. I just bought a size 16 dress - was in a 26 before surgery! I'm about halfway to goal, and have never lost this much before. I actually can see the light at the end of the tunnel.:(

You ought to come join us in the August 08 All Stars official forum down in the Monthly Lap-Band Support Groups section. I think this link will take you there. August 2008 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum We've got a great, supportive group of bandsters there!

I was banded Aug. 4 and though I have not lost near what you two have, I am still doing really well for me. I have lost 45.2 pounds and two sizes. I know it doesn't sound like much to some folks but to someone like me who couldn't lose weight before, it is AMAZING! I love my band!

45..2 pounds is really good. We all loose at different rates, theres ppl out there that has had it done after me, and have lost more than I have. Loosing at different rates is the reason I don't compare my weight loss to the weight loss of others. I have before and the only place it got me was depressed. Keep up the good work girl!!!

I am extremely happy with my band. I still mourn food here and there but wouldnt trade this for anything. I just started exercising this week so I cant complain that I lost this much without even working out...but I am now dedicated to working out so that I can get to my goal of 180...so half down half to go....:bored:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
