First Fill, not too bad!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I went for my first fill today after being banded 6 weeks ago, I lost 19 lbs and down 4.5 % on my BMI, WOOHOO!!

After my nut. found out I was able to eat anything she filled my AP Standard 10cc band with 5 cc's, I thought this might be too much but she seemed to think it would be fine, I drank some Water before I left and it did'nt seem to get stuck then when I got home I had a slim fast and now I'm full...

Hopefully I will start losing a little bit each week without much hunger.

Thanks to everyone for all their advice since I've been on here, it has really helped.

Interesting. My first fill went well too. However, my PA was more conservative. She put in 2.25 in a 10cc band. For me, Water always went right through, but the barium liquid was slower and that is what she judged by. My 2nd visit for eval possible 2nd fill was supposed to be today, but was canceled. Doctor in Hawaii I'm guessing.

Yeah, my nut. told me if it started feeling to tight after awhile to come back in and she would take some out, I'm on liquids for 2 days so we'll see...

Hopefully though I won't have too though...

Must be nice to vacation in Hawaii, but if you're a doctor you can vacation anywhere you want too..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
