I cannot tell you all how relieved I am to hear I'm not the only one in this situation. I've lost 7 pounds, gained back 2, was banded on 5/7. I can eat anything I want, and I have been eating anything, including peanut M&Ms and Chickfila sandwiches.... (there, I said it!). I do get full more quickly. I have the Realize band, and there is absolutely nothing in it. However, I have found that I can't eat baked chicken very well. Isn't that ironic? The Chickfila chicken slides down quite easily!! :-)

All this is just to say, hey, I've eaten what I've wanted lately and haven't really gained back weight, and I certainly wasn't losing anything on the crazy shake and mushies diet. I'm waiting for my first fill! I am also walking extensively every day up and down big hills, so I am sure that helps....

We'll get there, right?!

Yep, Posted in mens room about this. With no fill being done yet for another 4 weeks from band insertion i felt ok by day 5 of the OP so just got to be carefull during this period. Thanks to the boards here have kept weightloss going. Not going to solids of any kind till week 4 as i did try and felt bloated and knowing that feeling means no weightloss. So staying with following as am loosing quite well so far, Usual day is not time dependent, its hunger dependent but have basically:-

1.Mulitvitamin tablet + Actimal drink

2.Home made Soup(any) or Heinz if i havt shopped

3.Light Yoghurt Drink(1.3%fat 500g - through day as i feel hungry as its filling)

3.Depending how full i feel either Protein Shake/Home made Soup(any) or Heinz if i havnt shopped

So far am still loosing before first fill. Just got to keep going and not expect an unadjusted band to do it for you.

After reading some of the boards here i can see that even after the first fill if i havnt hit the sweet spot where the band and my food is balanced i think i will still have to be carefull once i get to solids.

I can appreciate your frustration because we just had major surgery and are anxious for results. This may not be the popular thing to say but I think we all need to have a little patience with ourselves. It is unrealistic to think we can lose 10 lbs the first week and keep doing that week after week. Our bodies do not know how to read a scale. I also don't think a dr. should ever get "annoyed" or "mad" if you are not making significant progress after just 4 weeks. We are healing, our bodies are adjusting to the trauma of surgery. This is a marathon it is not a sprint. I have lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks and don't for a minute expect that to continue. I know I am on the road to better health, weight loss is just an extra benefit to keep me motivated. I know we all feel that way so try not to let the scale ruin your motivation. You are eating healthier, learning to count calories, Protein and excersising. You have already begun to win this life long battle with food that many of us have fought. The weight loss is just our reward and it will come in time. Just my honest opinion. Hang in there!!

My banding is tomorrow but my inclination is to tell you to relax. Get your restriction in place. Let yourself heal! Most of what I have read on the band indicates an expected loss of about 2 pounds a week. I also think our bodies have to occasionally stop and catch their breaths before letting more of the weight go.

Honestly, I think you need to lower your expectations. I know how frustrating it can be to hope for faster results. (And when I'm here in a month frustrated by the same thing, remind me of what I said. LOL)

I was reading another thread about plateau's and they said if you are eating under 1200 calories a day your body goes into starvation mode and stores everything. I've uped my calorie intake just a bit and it is working I am now losing again! I was at 1000 or less a day.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I lost 16 pounds on my pre-op diet, but only 2 pounds since I was banded on 5/4. I originally lost 4lbs the first week, but I've seemed to gain/lose those other two depending on the day. I get full very fast, but it doesn't last long. I was thinking that maybe I'm chewing my food TOO well, since I can be extremely hungry after only 20 minutes of eating.

I don't get my first fill until maybe 6/9 (depends on my doc). I'm really nervous, because if he doesn't do it on 6/9, I have to wait until the end of July to do it. He only schedules the hospital one day a month for fills, and I'm going to be on vacation at the end of June. The nurse said he MAY be able to do it on the 9th, but we'll see. I am already discouraged as it is, I can't imagine waiting 2 months for a fill.

I got my first fill today. OMG I have some restriction. Feels like to much but I know it will loosen up in a couple of days.....I can drink Water but so not hungry and afraid I will throw up if I eat...........

But I think now is when I really start playing the lap band game!!

I got my first fill yesterday and feel no restriction at all. I'm on liquids for the rest of today and start soft foods again tomorrow followed by solid foods on Sunday. I'm hoping to feel restricted. My doc did tell me I could come back in two weeks if I don't feel restricted, so that's good news. I magically woke up this morning and was 2 lbs lighter so maybe my weight loss is finally kicking in again.

I did not loose anything, maybe a pound or two, between my first fill and my fourth fill. I had my fourth fill a week ago bringing me to 5ccs. Since that fill, I have lost another pound. Not losing any weight for almost 3 months after only being banded for over 5 months is extremely discouraging. But, I finally have some restriction and I am def not eating anything near what I was a month ago.

Its hard when you see so many posts about how some have lost 50 -60lbs in their first 6 months, but its different for everyone I guess. With out the band, I would still be carrying those 30lbs I have lost.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
