I am allergic to lortab/vicodin and the like, so I had darvocet pills. You can get darvocet made into a suspension, but it's expensive. The pharmacist told me to crush them up and mix with hershey's chocolate Syrup. It wasn't bad at all.

I was given liquid Hydrocodone, it worked really good, too good, I had trouble not relying on it and eventually had too wean myself off it. It did taste bad, but I was in so much pain for about the first week after my surgery, I didn't care!

Anybody else get pills? I have Darvocet from an ankle injury that really helps and this Loratab isn't so I'm curious as to whether or not I should take that. When I'm sitting or laying and holding still no pain at all. It's only when I move and I have two children and three dogs....I have to more. That and I've been walking as much as possible. Surgery was yesterday.

You can have the pharmacist add flavoring to the Lortabs Elixir for about $2. Mine recommended watermelon flavor because he said it was the strongest flavoring they had. I never actually took any of the pain meds, but curiosity being what it is, I stuck my finger in it and tasted. Still tasted medicine-y but not gag-me terrible.

HAHA!!!! What meds? The only ones they gave me were in the hospital and when I was released last Saturday, I was told CHILDRENS liquid TYLENOL!!!!! I found Tylenol Extra Strength in liquid form at Walgreens and thats what I have been taking. I WISH I was prescribed something, but alas....Im OK (I guess...)

I have the Loritab elixir too. It is pretty gross, and it hasn't helped me either. I mean, it maybe BARELY dulls the pain, but it's never that noticeable. Whyyy??

I also received Loratab also. The taste was horrendous. It did not do much for my pain. Since most of my pain came from the gas left in my abdomen.

My surgeon didn't think pills were any big deal. I had Vicodin 5/500. Still have no problem taking pills

I also had a pain relief pump called the On-Q Pain Relief System

it was put in/on my while I was still sedated from surgery and then taken out before I left the hospital. It's supposed to stay in for 3 days or so but it wasn't placed correctly on me so they took it out the day after surgery instead. They say it really helps but since it wasn't on correctly it actually caused more pain.

In the hospital I had a PCA with dilaudid. Hydrocodone does not work for me at all and never has with any past surgeries so I went home with dilaudid tabs.

Extra strength Liquid Tylenol was all I needed. I only took it for 2 days. Walking was what I needed for the gas which was the worst of it. Good luck on your journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
