not my food, my weight lol. I haven't posted on here in quite some time. For a while I was focused on dealing with some other health issues, and so was content to just glide along/maintain my weight loss. Now that my other health concerns have been dealt with, I'm ready to focus on losing again- the only problem is it's happening soooooo slowly no matter what I do. I had my surgery in December 2007. I am down 88lbs, but I have been at this weight for a long time (months and months). I went to the gym, and they told me I needed to increase my caloric intake, so I did, and initially lost 5 lbs, but then gained it back the next week. Now I am really restricting my caloric intake (not hungry or craving anything) and I'm still not losing. I'm working out heavily about 3-5 hours a week. I'm so frustrated that the scale isn't moving. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't think I need a fill, because I feel satisfied, even with just a little bit of food :thumbup:. Oh P.S. I still have between 60-80lbs to lose!

I am new to this but what about counting Proteins, it worked for me before surgery..it is worth a shot. Good luck, sometimes we hit a plateau and then all of a sudden we start to lose again. I wish you well.

i feel your pain. i have lost 100 lbs and need to lose 30ish more. i am stuck too. these last few are determined to hang on. i think i may have gotten comfortable at this weight. good luck to u! hope you find what works for u!

I had bought Michael Thurman's extreme makeover plan (from the extreme makeover show) about a year before I had the band surgery. In his exercise recommendations he says to burn fat, keep your heart rate in the 65% range and not to let it go higher, if your heart rate starts to have an increase above this target you should slow your speed and it will keep you in the fat burning stage and not the cardio stage (I didn't know there was a difference). If I walk on the treadmill for 1 hour and keep my heart rate at 115-119 this seems to work for me.

Plus I use a app on my iphone that is called lose it. (free) they have a website too.

Those 2 tools help me the most.

I've found my body will only drop in chunks every 3-4 weeks for some reason...my body has changed.

I was told by my trainer I needed to take in at least my bmr calories per day and burn down from there... not doing that since it's in contrast to my dr's orders.

I did get a fitness assessment though and that bmr (basil metabollic rate)was much lower than i thought. I also got myself a polar watch to watch where I am on my burn and track it and it's helping a bit... at least it keeps me honest. I too track everything I eat on a site (so many).

We just all lose at different rates and everything effects it -sodium, stress,lack of sleep etc. Just keep plugging away and it will come off- slow but steady.

God I am right there with everyone else. I can't seem to drop even half a pound and since I can't lose anything else I am starting to over eat because I am stressed out about it.

Sometimes it's a good Idea to shock the system, I think our bodies build up an immunity when we stick with the same calories, same foods or even the same workout schedule... At least this is true for me.. I switch things up every week, this seems to help me stay on track and lose 1-3 lbs a week.

What do you change about your diet every 1-3 weeks? I thought about going back to the preop diet for 1 week to see how that worked

Well I don't count calories since being banded but I have a great memory of how many calories are in certain foods from my pre band calorie counting days so I am aware if I am getting too many or not enough... Most times I'm not getting enough calories in on the weekends because I work 12 hour days, like maybe 700-800, so on my off days when I'm at home and have had adequate sleep I eat more, which is probably around 1400 clalories. This shocks my system and keeps it guessing. The same goes with working out.. I work out 4 days a week and I use a different machine each day... I'm no scientist but this works for me...

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
