Scared its not Working

Recommended Posts

I was banded 01.07.07, in Belgium by Chris DeBurne.

I have had quite a few fills 4 I think.

I am now at 7.5ml.

I had 2 fills done by Fredrick, that were not sucessful, once he charged me and said it was done and it wasnt when I complained next time, he said he couldnt find it.

Anyway, its been nearly a year and I can eat loads. I lost 8kg straight after surgery but not much since then.

I started at 113kg now i'm at 101kg.

Please help, do you think its slipped? not correctly positioned? I havent had a scan yet, im sure im due one soon.

Please help.

I think you need to find out what's wrong with your band. We aren't docs so can't really tell you if it's slipped, leaks, what? but you need medical advice. Go get some help.

I totally agree with monkey, if you are not happy with the advice or care your current doc is giving you it is your responsibility to see out a new doctor who can help you with your problem. If you feel that indeed there is a problem then by all means do not wait.

4 fills and it has been more then a year?

That is not a lot in my opinion.

I have had four in four months.

I think you need to find a good fill doctor and get some restriction. If you can eat without chewing your food really well, or you can eat big bites chewed well, then you are not correctly restricted. The food is falling right through and the band is really doing almost nothing.

Don't go just by how much Fluid is in the band, because everyone is different on the amount it takes to get proper restriction.

Do you ever get stuck, because you are eating too fast, too big of bites, or not chewing well enough? If you don't then yes you need a fill.

I cant eat the amounts I could before.

If I eat too quickly then it gets stuck.

I cant eat a whole carrot no matter how much I chew it, it will get stuck and painfull.

I couldnt eat bread, now i can have it as long as its well toasted and i have it with something ie cheese and Beans.< /p>

But I still feel I can eat quite alot, so maybe I need more fills.

when I had op, I was told only needed 3-4 fills in first year to get good restriction.

Anybody out there to help me?

We've tried; the concensus is you need to go to a good doctor who will confirm your fill level and the patency/placement of your band and help you get back on track....you of course have to do what you think is right for you

I'm not sure what you mean by your question.

Are you trying to say the answers so far aren't helpful. If that is really how you feel, then NO, no one can help you.

Man, this is lapband 101.

I agree with Steve, as long as you're not having other troubles it sounds like nothing more than a case of not enough fill yet. True, if you never get stuck that's a sign of underestriction but even with NO Fluid in a band you can get stuck on stuff if you eat big bites and dont chew.

Truly, you just sound like you need more restriction. You HAVE lost some weight, so something's going right, whether its more your hard work or the band.

But are you doing all the right stuff? Exercising?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
