I love my band,I love my weight loss but God how i wish i could sit down and eat a hearty big steak or a big bowl of pasta.I miss my food so much.

Dont get me wrong,i dont regret what ive done because eating like that was how i got morbibly obese in the first place, but it doesnt mean i dont miss it.

i am so sick of pbing after each meal and things getting stuck and hurting, but i still wouldnt go back to the way i was,im just needing to vent. lol

There isn't any reason you can't have a steak- infact I eat one about every other day. It is a great source of protien! If you are PBing after every meal, then it seems you might be too tight. It shouldn't be that often that you PB. The band isn't torture, you should be able to have things you love in moderation and small amounts.

I know the feeling. I was banded on the 29th of Jan. Have no regrets but I do love some good eaten. My church is having this big dinner on sunday; I just had a fill two days ago ~ I have to make mac and cheese!! MAC AND CHEESE!! I don't even eat Pasta any more. Anyway, when I think of the next 30lbs! I can do it.

What is PBing

It stands for Productive Burp, which is what happens when you dont chew enough, eat too much, or east too fast. Your band becomes very uncomfortably full, you will produce alot of thick saliva and will feel like you have to throw up becuase that food wont go down. The only way to get relief is to throw up. Hope that helps.

I too agree, you should be able to eat ALL foods or the band isnt working properly, i eat steak 3-4 times a week, there is NO foods i can not eat, just in smaller portion sizes, ive been having BBQ's, I hear people say they cant even eat chicken? , i steam mine & its lovely & moist,

hope you get your band sorted out soon so your not having to go without foods you enjoy

Cindie, I eat steak at least once a week, often twice! It's not a 2 pound T-bone but I enjoy it just as much as if it were! I tenderize it, I grill it, I have some steamed veggie or other or a spinach salad with it and sometimes a small baked potato. From your vent, I get the feeling that you miss the big portions, though I think if you examine it there's probably more to it than that. Perhaps when you sat down to a "huge steak" or a "big bowl" of Pasta there was a social situation connected to it and you haven't been able to separate the two in your head. You can have those things, in smaller portions, and still be physically satisfied with the food and mentally satisfy yourself with a social situation without the need for stuffing yourself to bursting.

Not all of us can have those foods. I understand and sympathize with you. Becky

Gee I eat most foods, some are bothersome so I avoid them, I eat some steak, just get a 4 oz. filet which is lean and tender, grill, and cut into very very small bites. Then enjoy eat it slowly savor every bite. I eat macaroni and cheese, I use whole wheat Pasta, and low fat chedder and some other low fat cheeses. Just eat small bowl.

I make a killer Pasta Sauce and I eat a cup of pasta with a cup of sauce. and it's wonderful.

What they said. If you're that tight you're too tight and it is NOT NOT NOT healthy to "Pb after every meal" You'll end up with a slip or erosion and have to have the band removed. Call your doc, get some saline removed. THen enjoy the steak.

It seems like you may be too tight if you are pbing alot. I have 6cc's in my 14cc band and while I have some restriction (I certainly have cut back on my portions) I have not gotten stuck nor have I pb'd. Although everybody is different.

I totally get what you are going thru....I don't know if you are feeling it the same way I am but for me its about not having to think about everything I eat every time I eat it.....I crave that mindless eating, big portions (maybe) but not having to worry about if what I swallow is going to get stuck would be nice. I have only had one of those PB's and it really isn't that fun. I hope that this hits a spot with you or others because I just don't know if others are also craving the "Mindlessness of eating" as I do.

PB'ing after every meal is not good for you or the band. Either it is too tight or you may need to slow down and chew a little more.

That being said, you are only a few months out from banding. I felt the same was in the early months out from banding. I actually mourned for the loss of the ability to eat the way I did previously.

However, it doesn't take long to adjust and your feelings change. This is just one step in a journey to a new you and a new relationship with food. It gets considerably easier over time. Good luck.

For me its a lifestyle and mindset change. Believe me, I loved chocolate and Pasta and pizza before my band, but now I enjoy fish, chicken, pork and steak, in smaller portions with healthy veggies and I always remember how I felt before and I will NEVER go back to that weight again. Its a trade-off of sorts - I have learned to eat sensibly and healthy and I feel better than I have in a long long time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
