More specifically,

"ahem... show some compasion b****! "

You're suggesting THAT comment was somehow...uh..."productive" ?

jeez.....

that was meant in the spirit to help someone... i mean really sometimes you need a expletive to enhance a point. I was not trying to make fun or call her out i needed her to hear what i was saying in the context that i was saying it and i didn't want to leave any room for misinterpretation.

if you are in a room with arguing people and some one says ever so elegantly "please simmer down" how quiet do you think it will get?

But if before that some one comes in and said in a loud stern voice "Quiet the hell (or other expletive) down. You will get a much better response.

Furthermore if you were in a bank and it was being robbed and the gunman came in and said in a calm voice. "excuse me this is a robbery would you all please get on the floor and be still" i ask you what you believe the response would be?

When i made that statement it was to make sure that the tone of the entire post was read with absolute clarity.

Oh, I get it now.

It was OK to refer to someone as a B***h because your INTENTION was pure and honorable.

You were using an expletive for the betterment of the dialogue, and the community at large.

Have you discussed your philosophy of "controlled and well-intentioned profanity" during your aforementioned "walk with Jesus"?

Do you suppose that when he rid the temple of the moneychangers that he was screaming "get your motherf****** A*** out of this go*da** temple before I kick your as***!!!!"

Do ya think that's how he might have handled it?

I'm thinking....perhaps not.

I think you and PattyGreen need to kiss and make up. You guys were made for each other.

I'm with you i remember the issues that gadget lady brought to my Obama threads.

i think the biggest problem with that attitude is that there is no room for people to live together in their scenario. It is that type of thinking that lead to atrocities such as the crusades, the genocides in Rwanda, Darfur, Kosovo, and other places. yes i have different beliefs and yes i think they are best... but i can force anyone to live a certain way without breaking the commandments that i live my life by. so we all have to learn now to live with each other dispite our differences and have intelegnt and respectful conversations and dialog about said issues.

Sometimes I wonder if transfer addiction isn't really the problem. Do you think some people go from obsessing over food to obsessing over religion? Or is it OCD that causes the food and religion things?

I do not believe food is really an addiction, I think it is an obsession. When my head hunger kicks in full force I take Luvox and it kills my head hunger. Luvox is for OCD. I really wonder with some obsessed over religion... what do you suppose would happen if they were treated for it?

I'm not talking someone who has faith in their God, I'm referring to the Patty and Gadgetlady types.

Almost makes you want to slip a bit of Luvox in their coffee for a few days just to see if it helps. ;o)

stay on the right path she will eventually come around

I don't think so. I honestly don't. Some people use religion to avoid life and everything they do to others is based on justifications from the bible.

I truly, sincerely, believe it is a disorder that needs treatment and I only see it getting worse with time. I was dead serious in my (above) post where I wrote that I see it as an OCD issue.

I don't think so. I honestly don't. Some people use religion to avoid life and everything they do to others is based on justifications from the bible.

And moreover, they use their religion - as Ms. Green does - to justify their ignorance, bigotry and complete lack of critical thinking skills. That's the best indictment against religion.

I truly, sincerely, believe it is a disorder that needs treatment and I only see it getting worse with time. I was dead serious in my (above) post where I wrote that I see it as an OCD issue.

It clearly is. It's substituting on addiction for another. Except this time it's hatred turned outward.

its an indictment against their ignorance not religion

Not necessarily. Assuming religion and spirituality are different concepts.

Its the Muslim argument all over again you can blame the Faith because of the fanaticism of the few.

green has the view point of an extreme.

i hole the same faith yet you can clearly see that i am radically different.

Religion tells people how to behave, spirituality tells them if they are right or not.

I think religion is one of the biggest problems historically throughout society. It is the #1 reason we are not more advanced in science, medicine, and culture. Religion has caused countless deaths and the slaughter of people. Then you have the abuse of humans.... all due to religion and namely the Christian religion. It is a primitive myth that should have gone out the window a long time ago. It has in other societies and amazingly, they are a much kinder people. Less judgmental, hateful, and far more open to people doing their own thing in life as long as it isn't hurting anyone.

Spirituality is a whole different ball game. Spirituality I am all for. If someone wants to believe in a God, all the power to them! If that gives them comfort then I'm glad they found what works. But religion is nothing short of a horror.

I think religion is one of the biggest problems historically throughout society. It is the #1 reason we are not more advanced in science, medicine, and culture.

The best example of this is the incredible advancements and inventions that came from the Middle East during the "middle ages". That section of the world was one of the more advanced societies on earth at the time. We still use some of their inventions.

Then, religion took over and destroyed it all.

It's actually The bible (God) who tells people how to behave. Religion tells people how THEY think people should behave. Spirituality is an individuals concern with the inner spirit.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
