That's fantastic! Congrats to you!

You'll love Dr. A and the staff. They are great. It's also great that you are doing this with a friend. It will make everything easier having someone at the same stage as you.

Congratulations! I just had surgery with him in April and he and all his staff are wonderful.

I agree that doing it with a friend is awesome as well. You guys will be a great support system for each other.

Ruthi (Ruthgrosvenorcox) and I are scheduled for June 12th with Dr. Aceves .... we'll probably pass each other on the road ... I am getting very anxious and somewhat nervous (as I have never had major surery before) to start on the path of my new life of losing this horrible weight and keeping it off once and for all!

It's so funny that we are all one right after the other. The only two that were there at the same time were Elizabeth and Susan.

Too bad more of us weren't there together! I was so bored in that hospital room. It would have been nice to have someone to talk to!

I have a dumb question.

Do you go to get the toradol locally while in Mexico, and do you have a certain amount your allowed to bring back in the US?

Sorry, this isn't really related, other then we are going to be in the same place.

My surgery with him is scheduled for May 27. For a while it seemed like it would never get here and now it feels as though it is just around the corner.

You're given 8 doses when you leave the hospital as well as a 2 week supply of nexium. If you go out the ER door (where they bring you for pre-op testing) and walk to the end of the small parking lot you'll see a pharmacy on the corner. Go in there (everyone does) and buy the medications you want. I was not questioned at all about anything I had in my luggage.

The border patrol person asked me where I was from and that was it. She looked at my passport and we passed into the U.S. to the San Diego airport.

You can buy as much as you want and bring as much as you want back. Technically you can only bring a 3 month supply back per person. They've never said a word to me about it. They are really looking for narcotics.

I read that you should not take toradol for more than five days. Are you recommending we get more to bring home? I understand buying the Nexium because from what I read the acid could last a good while.

You shouldn't take it on a regular basis (1 every 8 hours) for more than 5 days at a time, it's really hard on your stomach. I just stock up on it for headaches and such. I was only responding to our honorary sleeve brother's question. ;o)

Rosebud... don't I know you????? ;o)))) I think I do!

I have never needed it. I brought home what they gave me, and have never used it.

I also haven't had any acid problems and have a hard time remembering to take my nexium.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
