A Week to Go...nerves starting to get to me.

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I am getting really nervous, not questioning my decision but just really nervous about surgery. I am scared of pain, and have never had anything this major. I have been on the Optifast for two weeks and have lost 7.4kgs, I go in on the 14th of September 2005.

I know this is prolly normal but all I can think about is the operation, I can't wait but on the same token I am scared Sh&tless....please tell me this is normal and it doesn't hurt too much

*hugs*

Oh Suzii, it IS normal. I've had two major surgeries before and from what everyone describes this should be a piece of cake (sorry for that analagy lol).

Your gonna be sore and tired in the beginning but I think from what everyone describes, its not that bad.. PLUS, you should ask your doctor before you leave the hospital for pain killers, just incase. Everyone's different y'know.

Your gonna do wonderful, I just know it.

Hi Suzii,

I was exactly the same, I had my self in a state the week before and leading up till they took me into surgery. I know this is really hard but everytime you think about it, think about the end result, dont think about the fear or the pain etc, just the end result. Honestly when I woke up I was in pain, but nothing like I had imagined...It is also a pain that improves very quickly. You will be in my thoughts and I know no matter how much anyone tells you everything is going to be ok etc you are still going to panic because I was the same, just think END RESULT!!! It is going to SO worth it.

Good Luck

Suzi the surgery is easy. The hardest part for me was finding a comfortable position to sleep in. I usually sleep on my stomach but that is out of the question right after surgery. I have new respect for the recliner. U will do great!

I am having surgery tommorrow and I am scared also. Not about the surgery, but about whether I am doing the right thing or not. I always cry alot while I am in the waiting area before surgery. Sometime they give me a "cocktail" to calm me down. After that they can do anything they want to me, lol.

Stevie I"m in the same boat you are in. I am scared shi..... too my surgery is monday. Keep me posted and I will do the same. We both can support one another. I hear so many things out here. Some say they are in pain because of their fill - why should a fill make you so miserable. I am so afraid of pain myself. Will keep you in prayer and pls. do the same.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
