I am having a band teaching class in the begining of June right before my surgery, I am assuming at that time they will tell me what kind of things not to eat, but as of right now they haven't told me. I was hoping you all could help me out. I've heard Pasta, rice, and bread. However, I also know that some of you will say it varies from person to person. I would love to know by your experience what you would suggest NOT top eat! Thanks everyone!

oh yea, what about corn?

One guess as to what I'm going to say

It depends on each person!

I was banded 1/14/09 and have more then 5cc's in, I can still eat anything.

there will be people that post after me that have problems with everything from Pasta to chicken to broccoli.

Good Luck dear!

Donna is right, everyone is different. My biggest problem food is chicken. The only way I can eat it is in chicken salad. Recently I noticed I can't eat peas comfortably. Maybe it is the skins?? I used to be a bread lover and thought I could never give that up, but now it really isn't worth the pain. So far those are the main issues. Also, something that never gave you a problem before can become a problem the next time you eat it. Fickle band! But I love it just the same.

So far my only issue is bread and that just came about today. Until today I could eat bread fine. I had my first stuck episode with a piece of toast this morning. It was NO fun so no more bread for me!

I can eat anything. The only time I have had issues with food is when I did not chew well enough. I know this was the case because I was talking and just resorted back to my pre-banded days of not chewing very well.

Good luck!!!!

I can eat corn either from frozen or canned, but cannot eat corn on the cob. Weird. Anyway, I cannot eat bread or Pasta, but no problems with rice. Only tried rice twice though.

Most likely they will tell you to eat Protein first, then veggies, then carbs at each meal. Take small bites and chew your food to mush before you try to swallow. If you do that you should have few problems with anything. The only foods I've had problems with were rice, and dry chicken.

Your doctor or nutritionist should go over an eating plan with you before surgery. If not, ask them. Good luck to you.

Rice and dry chicken are bad for me as well as standard bread. I can also not eat french fries or chips.

I can eat any veggie or fruit in any form or fashion with no trouble at all.

I had one good pizza experience and one bad. I don't do Pasta because I tend not to chew it well. Since I have not learned my lesson on that one yet I have grounded myself from it.

Again, like they said above, it is all going to vary person to person. You will really just have to wait and find out on some of it as you go along. Trial and error sort of thing.

I cannot eat any Pasta, bread or pizza. But each person is different, for me it was mostly trial and error...more error than trial when it came to my beloved carbs..lol =)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
