Worst Pb Ever!

Well...my band and I are not on speaking terms right now. I was so excited because it is football season and today was the first game of the season for UT. I have season tickets and LOVE to go to thegame and tailgate, etc.

I got to my first tailgating party and they had fajitas. I thought--super. I'll eat the meat--no tortilla. A little bit of guac. I had a couple of bites and OH MY GOODNESS. I knew something was wrong so I started to walk and walk, several times stopping to slime. Mind you we are outside in the HOT Texas sun. I ask soemone if I can please go in their rv. I go in there and throw up...not just the meat but a great deal of blood. I finally had to leave the bathroom because I knew I had to get to the hospital. Throwing up blood just sounded way to scary to ignore. I kept throwing up blood. It was actually 3/4 blood and 1/4 saliva. It was awful. I called Dr. Martinez on the way--thank goodness for him and his cell phone.

I got to the hospital and they were packed because of all of the Hurricane victims. But because of my cup of blood they moved me to the front of the line. I was sitting in the ER throwing up and giving them my info when that DAMN piece of meat came up and more blood--FINALLY. I quit throwing up and felt somewhat normal but what an ordeal. It was really scary. Turns out I busted some blood vessels in my throat when I pb'ed. Not too big of a deal but I have to go on liquids for a week.

Moral of the story-CHEW CHEW CHEW...and try your darnest never to pb.

Thanks for letting me tell my story.

HOOK EM HORNS.

(This is what goes thru my head now when I eat because I was getting stuck and things just weren't going good for me...)

Thank goodness you're okay now. That must have been a horribly scary thing for you. I can't believe that just happened today and you're already telling your story. When you called Dr. Martinez on his cell ph. was he helpful? I had a PB 4 days post-op but it was because I did something really stupid, I gotta tell you I thought for a few minutes there I was going to die. I didn't throw up blood though. Well, I'm glad all is well with you now. Take care.

Thanks everyone. It was scary but really turned out fine. I do feel a little drained from the whole experience this morning. <O:p</O:p

The meat was steak fajita meat. You know the kind...very seasoned and looks really juicy. I just was not thinking. I was caught up in the moment. I knew not to eat the tortilla but just didn't think about the meat long enough. When "the piece" finally came up it was big...and I knew I had made a big mistake. <O:p

I do feel a little bummed this am. Everything was really going well...which I guess is what caused the pb, overconfidence and not paying attention. Back to basics. <O:p

Dr. Martinez was VERY helpful, much more so than the doctor there in the hospital. HE had no idea what was going on or what to do with me. I honestly could have skipped the ER (I know that now...but better to be safe than sorry), as the only thing they did was take my blood pressure and call dr. Martinez. He was great. He spoke to me ont he way to the hospital and pretty much diagnosed me in the car. Then he spoke to the dr. And then he spoke to me after I got out of the hospital. Told me what to do...liquids and be very careful because I may need an unfill.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
