6lbs down this week!!! I have dropped my BMI by 10 points now & could not be happier!

I had my first appt with the GI doc today as well. He tells me that I need to do an at home Hemoccult test to see if there is blood in my stool. If so I will need the colonoscopy. If it is not present then I suppose further testing may need to be done to determine why the mild anemia exists.

So as of now my surgery date is still not set in stone, but I know I am getting closer by the day. I am doing everything they tell me to do and will keep chuggin along until I reach my destination! It still is tentative for August 20th right now.

I also was able to reach a personal goal last night on the treadmill. I walked at a brisk rate for 1.53m in 36 mins! I have been trying for some time now to do 1 1/2 miles & it was a great feeling reaching this goal for myself! I will continue to keep y'all updated.

HappyHomeCC - Thank you for checking out my post & for the encouraging thought!!!

I was soooooooooo wanting another 6lbs this week to bring me to 70lbs lost.... & I got my prayer answered!!! I went from 425 to 419 which puts me at exactly 70lbs down now! What a feeling! Dr. Fox wanted at least 70 and acheiving that is very satisfying. My BMI has gone down another point now to 63.7. I should get results from the Hemoccult test Wednesday to find out if I need the colonoscopy or not. I am wanting that August 20 surgery date set in stone now:)

To get the 6lbs this week I have started doing 40 mins a night on the treadmill with a 4.0 incline. Whew does this produce the sweat for me! It feels great when I am done walking. At this rate it would be cool if I could get to 80-85 before surgery. We shall see!

Jason

P.S. Where is everyone this past week? I was hoping to see some posts from everybody from last weeks update, but maybe y'all all took a vacation together! HaHa!! J/K Talk to y'all soon!!!:smile2:

Hi Jason,

I guess I was on vacation since you posted last (I wish!). You sure are doing great! Congratulations on hitting 70, your determination continues to be inspiring to me and many others here.

Hope you get good news Wednesday (I'll be looking!)

I have a Dr. appt Wednesday (hip pain) and if I can figure that out I'm going to get on the treadmill a friend gave me--and my goal will be to give you a run for your money! :smile2:

Well... It has finally happened!!! August 20th 9:30am is my surgery date! I do my Pre-Op class on Aug 13. Looks like I will have 7 days of liquid diet before the surgery. I am ready for this day to come! The tests from the GI doc came back negative so that was great news. Dr. Fox & my primary doc agreed that my mild anemia was due to my rapid weight loss. Things are looking up as each day passes!!! Now ... the waiting:)~

I am so happy for you! You achieved your goal so fast! The time it took you to lose weight is often the time many people wait just to have the surgery! You have also gained some valuable exercise and eating skills that will do nothing but benefit you after this surgery! I'm getting banded on the 12th, so we're bandster buddies!

YEAHHHHHHHH JASON!!!!! The waiting won't be so terrible, really .... I mean these 13 weeks have flown by in many ways. You've worked hard and you're finally ready for surgery. Three weeks more. We'll all be counting the days with you!!

Jason. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am so excited for you. Following you on this pre-op part of your journey has been fun and inspiring for me and I can't wait to "go with you" to your goal - I KNOW you will get there. You really don't have that long to wait (easy for me to say.... right?) and 1 week pre-op - lucky dog!! :) Keep up the good work. Your day will be here soon. I'm very happy for you. Take care. Becky

That is the best news! I am so happy for you! You have worked so hard to get to this, now it's just a little longer to go.

It'll take a while on that challenge, apparently I have bursitis (odd, never had it BEFORE losing 50lbs, now it shows up). I have a med for it, but have to wait til I see my surgeon (tomorrow) to make sure he says it's ok for me to take. If so, I have to take it for a week, and then I can try the treadmill. I'll get there, but you're a tough act to follow

I really am so glad you got your surgery date, now to count it down. (my husband is coming home on leave that day, so I'm counting down too!)

HOORAY! :)

Jason - it's been very entertaining to read through your progression in these posts. May I suggest starting a blog to document the rest of the journey? I'd love to read it and think many others would too!

Hello everyone!! Thanks for the awesome responses! I had my 14 week weigh-in today. I lost 4lbs so I am up to 74lbs now!

I have to stop taking the Phentermine (appetite suppresant) this Friday. On the 13th I start my liquid diet which will last a total of 5 weeks with one of those weeks being before surgery, of course. As with many on the forum the day is getting close & closer. I am getting more excited with each passing day! I am ready.

About the blog - I have never done one and only read 1 person's I think. Don't know much about them. How do people know when it is updated & when to go read something new if they are interested? Someone will have to school me on blogging I suppose! HaHa!! So far I have enjoyed just updating this post I guess. Is that alright for a while?

Jason, did you mean your liquid diet will be 5 days? I thought you were getting banded on the 20th?

Congrats on the recent loss! A few more pounds and you will be in the 300's! I am so very happy for you and I hope that you continue with your success!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
