Back in the Hospital...

Recommended Posts

...but hopefully for no reason. I was having shortness of breath, sweating, and a lot of chest pain with breathing (not gas). Started yesterday afternoon and I was hoping it would just go away. It didn't. I called when the surgeon's office opened, then twice more...finally heard from them this afternoon and doc sent me to the ER (I could bear the pain and the shortness of breath, I just wanted to know if it was normal...one of my sister's had 2 mini-strokes). Well, it's not a clot, but the EKG came back with an anomoly, so they're making me stay for a stress test tomorrow. I just got to my room and the heart doc said it's probably nothing (and that I probably pulled something in my chest) and I'll get to go home after results are in tomorrow. Sorry, typing fast..they're making DH leave and he'll take the computer.

What a way to spend my 50th birthday! Gotta go!

Hey guys, thanks for the notes!!! DH just got to the hospital (poor guy- it's his 50th birthday, no lie, today). We thought I'd be home by now, but you know how it goes waiting for test results. Doc expects everything to be fine and I'll get released.

Went for the stress test very early this morning. I got down there and when they were asking questions one of them was 'any restrictions for the treadmill?'. I'd forgotten until then that my doc's discharge says no treadmill until the post-op visit. So they gave me the medically induced stress test and a slow walk on the treadmill (don't tell my doc)...only took about 5 min., but boy was that med. effect weird...you can feel it start to race, doesn't hurt, just weird.

First part of the test (pre meds) was fine, and he expects the other part to be too. The cardio doc said he can't explain the pain either, but that one or several ribs may have moved out of placement in the surgery and they'll just have to heal. I keep asking everyone if it could be a problem with the band/slippage? (we new banders are protective of our new bands LOL), but they keep saying it's not likely. None of the tests show my ribs or my band (CT of the lungs but no simple xray of the chest), so they can't confirm/refute the ribs or the band. I'm doing better when sitting still, and breathing shallow doesn't hurt much at all...pain meds are a wonderful thing. I just feel silly being here! I was hoping they'd just say no clot- go home!

I'll be glad to get home...good part is I'm still not hungry yet! Yeah!! Thanks again for the notes; good to know others are thinking of you. I'll update tomorrow to confirm I made it home. Bunnies Rock! -BG

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
