We just recently went on spring break. I met up with a couple of friends that I hadn't seen in a while. I was so amazed at how good they looked. Both friends had lost about 70 pounds. Naturally I asked them what they were doing to lose the weight. Both friends had the lap band procedure. I had inquired about the surgery about 2 years ago, but didn't pursue it because my insurance wouldn't cover it. My friends and I had several discussions about the procedure, their new lifestyles, and insurance. I have found out that my husband's insurance now covers the surgery. Woohoo!!!!! Guess what. I am going for my initial visit on the 5th of May. I am hoping things move quickly. I am so excited to finally have hope at weight loss. I am a bit nervous, but I think it is more of that giddy excitement mixed with emotions of a new adventure. I can't wait.

hi breakingfree

good luck on your journey.

i have to say it is one of the top 3 single best decisions i have ever made in my life.

like babygirl said....just follow your doctor's suggestions and stay focused on your goal and you can make it.

it isnt a "walk in the park" but the results are more then worth it.

when you start flying downward through clothes sizes that you havent seen in years.....you will be even more giddy. when i no longer had to shop in lane bryant and could walk into any women's store...wow!

i finally feel like a normal person and am no longer the fatest person in the room.

i'm very excited for you and your journey.

josie

Hi, all. I'm just as excited and giddy as you are. I have my first consultation with Dr. Kim on Tuesday, April 28th. I am a self pay but think it's going to be the best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck to you.

Susan

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
