Ok, am I the only person that is horrified at the thought of pureeing meat? ?

For those who have done it, is it awful? What are some other options?

I thought it would be awful too, but it wasn't bad at all! I would puree things like ground turkey or chicken breast with some refried Beans (or any kind of beans really) and add some spices. Actually tastes really good!

I never ate pureed meat. I did however make tuna the way I normally would (mayo, celantro, onion, seasoning, etc) and then stuck it in the food processor and added a dash of milk. It tasted just like it normally would and it did not get stuck. I took a bite before putting it in the food processor and got very stuck. I swelled up inside and it took about 2 more days of liquids before I could try eating again.

You could do the same type of thing with the canned chicken. Good luck and yes, you will make it through.

I ate Underwood spreads (chicken, ham), Vienna sausages, and vegetarian refried Beans with a little cheese or topped with low-fat sour cream. I also relied on canned tuna and chicken. I agree with a previous poster that I also continued my meal replacement/protein shakes for first several weeks for at least one meal a day.

I blended spaghetti with meat sauce, so yes, there was meat in there. It looked bad and tasted marvelous.

I'm still on Clear Liquids but when I'm allowed mushie foods do not plan on pureeing meat, tacos or anything like that. My plan is to eat Beans, cottage cheese maybe some canned or develed meat or tuna. That's now who know's what I may crave and give in to. Right now I'd just like to have some Tomato Soup.< /p>

Isn't that the best. I make it with non-fat milk.

Of course I used to crumble a half a package of saltines into it and make it all lumpy, but that had to change.

Try butternut squash Soup or Progresso Tomato soup (its lumpy, but I use my hand mixer on it and make it all creamy).

I put my chili in the food processor and ate it with ff sourcream and cheddar and it was very yummy. I also made my chicken salad using the food processor.

Man my typing and grammer :) on the above........ must have been weak from the clear liquids...

I plan some veggie chili when I get to mushy phase. Puree the tomato base I use, mush up the black beans, add my spices and some FF Sour Cream...yumo.:w00t:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
