Anyone in the HEB area?

Susan,

I live in Arlington and my surgeon was Robert Snow. He is actually in Hurst. I had my surgery Nov. of 2005 and I couldn't recommend a better doctor. He actually travels to other locations as well to approve other doctors to do the surgery. Look up lonestarbands.com and you can see him.

Hi, Carbgrl. I'm just starting the journey and I really want to get my band soon. I go to the seminar on Thursday and hope to schedule an appointment shortly after that. My friend is using Dr. Kim and I've decided to try him, too. Do you like him and his officer personnel? I'm glad you wrote and I hope to talk to you more.

I am in Euless and I just had my band put in last Friday 4-17-09 by Dr Randall Wright in Grapevine. I really like the staff in the Baylor Weightloss Center and Dr. Wright is very comforting and informative. I also felt so much better about having mine (and my husband is having his done on 5-8-09) at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine.:)

I will be going for my consultation and will see how soon I can be banded. My appointment is for Tuesday, April 28. I can't wait.

Hi Sue,

How was your consultation? I hope it went well. I usually post on the post-op boards. Yes, I do like Dr. Kim and his staff. Let us know how you're doing.

Hey Carbgirl. The consultation went great and I now have my surgery date of May 21, 2009. I start the Optifast shakes on May 7th. It will be a challenge, but I'm going to do this like I'm supposed to. I'm really looking foward to my surgery date - I get kind of mixed emotions - scared one minute then I can hardly wait the next. It's a real roller coaster ride. My dh and I are going to bariatric university on May 4 - Monday. Hope I learn a lot there, too.

Thanks for responding. I'll be on the post op board in about 18 more days.

Susan

Congrats on your surgery date Sue! I lost about 12 lbs on the pre-op diet! I completely understand about the nervous / excited feeling. I felt the same way! Good luck and we'll be seeing you on the post-op board soon!

I went to Dr. Snow in Hurst. I really liked him and his staff.

Did you happen to go to the meeting last night? They had an executive chef there to have everyone try his food that he made for banded patients as he is also. It is called Bandtasticmeals.com. I am sure you are not at the stage yet to eat regular foods yet. It seems pretty interesting and it is nice to know that someone is helping us out ther for ones who need help with Portion Control.< /p>

Amanda...............

You will really like him alot. I will tell you though not to get angry at him when your appts. are rescheduled. He is very busy with approving other doctors for doing the surgeries if he still does. He goes out of town alot but very well worth it. It just doesn't seem that lapband is a popular as it was when I go it done.

When you talk to Nikki tell her to have more support gropup meetings. I like to go to those.

I wish you alot of luck on the journey ahead. If you need help, please email me.

Josephine

Maybe we will meet each other if she has a meeting.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
