Anyone going to your town's Tax Day Tea Party tomorrow?

Recommended Posts

My first protest!! :) Downtown Houston is expecting around 3,000, but I'll bet it's more than that! I can't wait!

Anyone else going??

I'll be in Santa Monica, CA. :) I wonder what kind of media attention this will get. Check out this blogger equating us to the weather underground!

CobaltVA:: "Tea Party Movement"--the new Weather Underground?

AND if you feel like reading, this wonderful "assessment" paid for with our taxes put out by the US Department of Homeland Security:

Michelle Malkin

I know the tea parties are more then a "Republican" fight but those on the left are sure trying to raise either the fear flag or the "oh it's just a few radical right-wingers" excuses already!

Yeah, I read this on the DHS, but not from Michelle.

That's all they can do, make it sound as if it is "right-wingers" who are against all this bail-out crap. This is about ALL of us.

I for one adhere to the premise to not make any banners or signs personal against the president or anybody in particular as this is an issue which is far greater. I also believe it lends more credence to the movement to focus on the issue, not a person.

But yeah, the DHS thing... alarming. No doubt the day will come when those dubbed right-wingers will end up being thrown under the umbrella of hate-speech/hate-propogandists, etc. Just wait and see.

isn't it? - LOL

MIL invited me w/her church group to the one in Dallas.....probably thinking i'll be forgiven for voting for obama in the first place.

think i'll hit starbucks for my chai tea rather than attend, but i can't wait to see the footage of it - especially played out by the "liberal media"...:)

Hehehe! You sure you don't want to go for the forgiveness?

No, really, I have talked to people all over the spectrum, and it appears by my cross-section that it is a far cry from just us wacky right-wingers.

This problem affects all of us. I just think there has got to be a better answer. It's the best I can do in showing my feelings on the matter. And I reiterate, this is not an anti-Obama thing for me, as I hope it is not for anybody else.

That DHS document is ridiculous! And WHY would they release that doc to the public anyway?

I live in Texas for cryin' out loud and have not EVER heard one word uttered in any regard about Obama's race! ...except to hear people getting pretty pissed off about being called a racist all the time....when they're NOT! If there's any kind of racial division going on, it's not because of the Anglos, that's for certain.

i'm in TX too & have heard plenty about his race, from all walks of life including the inlaws. dh and i can visit them, and if the topic of politics come up - we're met w/hateful speach by some older relatives that grew up calling certain members of society names & don't think twice about it.

while dh did not vote for obama - he's ashamed that some can talk about his skin before they even hit upon how crappy his ideas are to them.

so it does exist, and does so everywhere.

I think the liberals would LOVE to make this all about race, as it detracts from the message of the protests (namely, that congress has got to reign in the spending in general, and earmarks specifically). That's also the reason some left wing bloggers are trying to brand the mostly average Americans that attend as part of the "fringe".

Oh, I hear you!! I have older relatives that are surely rolling over in their graves...but that is the OLDER generation...the ones who grew up with racism their whole lives! I'm sure racism still does exist in certain areas, but I'm just saying that I have never heard one word....not one! And this report makes it sound like conservatives are being "recruited" on every street corner and we're gladly signing up because we all hate African Americans...and especially ones who become president. It just ain't so. I'm sure I could be wrong, but I'm just saying...

I'm 50 years old and have never seen a grass roots movement spontaneously spring up like this one. I'm excited to be a part of it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
