Feeling Dizzy

Recommended Posts

I need some advise. I have had a few dizzy spells lately. Today was bad though. I was driving my parents to the airport and suddenly felt like I was in a third dimension. I had to pull over on the highway and let my dad drive. Luckily I was fine after about 15 minutes and managed to make the hour drive home with no problems. This happened to me last week while driving with my two kids also. Scared the hoot out of me. I'm wondering if my body is not getting enough of certain foods or nutrients. I'm still nursing and only taking in around 1000 calories a day or really 500 after nursing. Any advise out there? I feel like all I eat is pure protien and no veggies-- can that possibly be the culprit. Low Iron maybe??

Yes, with nursing a baby, I doesn't sound like you are getting enough calories to support you both. I would discuss my calorie needs with a nutritionist to find out what nutrition goal you should be working toward so you both are safe!

Nursing on 1000 calories a day!!!!!! You are putting yourself at great risk doing that, your baby is getting everything he/she needs but you're leaching your bones of their Calcium and severely depriving yourself of energy.

Seriously you need to eat more. You could be anaemic or just plain exhausted and depleted. Its hard enough to run just your own body on that small an intake.

Since you're banded and therefore limited in what you can physically fit in, you really probably should see a nutritionist - even if it means getting in some calcium and energy in liquid form - like fruit smoothies, yogurt and pureed fruit etc.

Another culprit is how much Fluid are you taking in? You could very well be dehydrated which could cause your blood pressure to drop, thereby making you dizzy. No matter what it is, you should absolutely see your Doc asap and find out exactly what's causing it and get the proper medical attention.

Good luck, congradulations on your baby. Keep us posted.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
