Tummy Tuck Scheduled- Now Tons of questions

Recommended Posts

Okay, I did it. I scheduled my TT. But now I am sort of freaking out. Its 6 weeks out.

What do they do about your port? Does it change?

Do you HAVE to get an unfill? I'm seeing both.

Anyone who has had the band and then a TT please let me knwo about your experience. I am about 10lbs from goal, and my doctor tells me that this will help me get there... because I'll actually be able to work those muscles again after the repair.

After 3 children by csection they feel this is the right time.

Hi urnoturcar,

congrats on your up-coming surgery!

I have to admit there are a lot of little differences in the way different PSs do things, so while I may share my experience, it may not end up being the same for you.

I had a lower body lift, not a TT, but essentially the same would have happened: I had a complete unfill 1 week prior to my surgery and got refilled with 90% of my previous fill 1 week after surgery. My next fill to get me back to where I was pre-BL, is in May.

My port also got moved from just under my ribs on my right hand side, to just to the right of my new belly button.

I was at goal when I went for surgery (only just though! I hit goal 2 weeks before my op) and since my op, am down almost 10lbs from my goal (7lbs of skin was removed) and that's with some swelling still!

I reckon as far as your questions about unfilling and your port are concerned, it's something you need to talk to your PS about. My PS answered those questions for me at my first consult with him.

HI, Congratulations on your next step.

I had an extended Tummy Tuck with an anchor cut. 9 lbs removed. I still need to lose about 25 lbs, so I wasn't at goal, but boy is it nice to not have that belly anymore.

I didn't have an unfill, as it had been 9 months since my last I had had one, so I wasn't tight at all with restriction.

My port was moved over about 2 -3 inches towards the middle of my tummy now. it used to be more on my side, of my belly, I didn't get a low profile port, we didn't think I would need it yet.

He took out my 2 c-section scars and my hysterctomy scar when he removed my skin, and a whole bunch of stretch marks, WOHOOOOO

Your going to love the new you.

Shalee, I was wondering if I could ask you a couple of questions? I'm getting a circumferential abdominoplasty in June. I'm not at goal (whatever that may ultimately be) but I felt I needed to have this done if I was going to actually get to goal. Have you lost weight since your tt? If so, has it affected your surgical results? Thanks.

Hi urn,

Thanks for posting this. I will be checking this a lot because I want to have a TT in the near future.

I am a bit nervous about it. I worry about my port more than anything.

I would be interested in knowing how the new port site works out and whether any complications arose from having the port moved. That worries me more than anything.

Hi,

I have only lost 5 lbs since my PS on Oct 25th. I am going in for my Revision on May 5th. I was hoping to have lost about 15 by then, But it's not going to happen. I am having issues with my thyroid meds and also I haven't been eating my Proteins like I need to. But starting yesterday I am back on the wagon to try and drop 5 lbs before revision.

I will say that even tho I haven't really lost any more weight I have gone down in sizes!!!!

Thanks so much for the info Shalee. I'm glad to hear you're dropping sizes. I'm really hitting the cardio extra, extra hard in hopes that I can lose a few more before June. I want the best results possible.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
