Trying to conceive and fighting my band all the way

Recommended Posts

Alright, I love my band...I really do. But I want to get myself the healthiest I can and eat all the fruits and veggies that I loved to eat before this thing was put in me. Now I seriously struggle to get a fruit and a vegetable in every day. PLEASE do not tell me to get my band loosened...I don't want to hear that. I will lose all control. I take my vitamins...I drink V8....I snack on veggies...I'm doing everything I can with the limited amount of stomach I have. I just don't think I'm eating enough 'good stuff' to do the trick. I just had my third IUI and if this doesn't do the trick I don't know what I'll do. Thanks for listening to me 'lose it.':frown:

I don't think that eating one less fruit and vegetable a day make you less fertile than being morbidly obese would.

Sounds like you need a juicer! I love our juicer and our blender for making smoothies/protein shakes! And keep in mind that you can still eat fruits and veggies the way you did right after band surgery, in the form of mushies like apple sauce, pureed veggie Soups, baby food, etc.

It is really stressful trying to get pregnant, specially after multiple IUI sessions. I have a couple of friends going through the same thing and it is rough.

I agree about using the juicer. You are already doing V8 which helps. There are also lower calorie juices on the market. I have been drinking a 50% Tropicana orange juice that has minimal calories per cup but lots of Vitamin c and nutritional benefits. Perhaps you can do more smoothies as well which can be quite yummy and filling. Soups with veggies are good as well. When I was doing Atkins years ago, I got into eating pureed cauliflower with low calorie butter and a little salt and pepper or sometimes garlic. That was really delicious, east to eat and a healthy way to get veggies in.

I know you said you don't want to hear about the band be loosened, but if you cant eat a normal fruit or vegetable it sounds like you are uncomfortably tight. Sometimes the tiniest fraction of an unfill can make a difference in what you can ingest without losing too much of that feeling of fullness.

Good luck with your IUI's. I hope you will be joing our preggo threads very soon.

i agree with the other ladies,u should be able to eat some kind of fruit or vegtable and v8 is very nutritious. u may need a small unfill. it can be scary especially when u are afraid to regain weight like alot of us are but sometimes a small unfill may not doom u to weight gain because if you are too tight not it may get worse and cause unneccesary stress when u do conceive and i pray u conceive soon cause trying can also be stressful( i know im trying again after miscarrying at 12 weeks with a d&c). all of it is stressful but the best thing to do is try to relax ,pray and try to manage our weight even during preg with healthy eating. hopefully we all will have very beautiful, healthy babies nine months from now.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
