Aaah so it must be a helpdesk role hehehe.

I found on my first day back i got a bit sore, i think its because of the different movements sitting at a desk and reaching etc. But i was fine.

hello everyone :tongue_smilie:

im 5 days into my fast and im feeling great! its not nearly as hard as i was dreading. ive been dreaming about chocolate, hot chips and breads but i actually think that its helped me behave while im awake lol

a few people close to me have questioned my decision to have the surgery. telling me that i dont need to lose weight (i currently weigh 118kg) and that im beautiful now. its great to know that people special in my life see me that way. but a few times ive had to take a moment to remind myself and explain to them that im doing this for me, and not to impress anyone

Hi Kitty, welcome!

I told everyone about my intentions getting the band. No one said I shouldn't - because, damn, I was 135.6kg! I needed to lose weight. At 111.6kg now and people ask how much more I want to lose, and I say around another 30kgs more and they all say "But then there'll be nothing left of you!" until I tell them that would still make me 80kgs!

Where are you having your surgery done?

Its amazing isnt it how people tell you "youre perfect how you are etc" but its not about them its about you.

I have my high school reunion in November and i was a bit fatter then, i can not wait to see their faces when im alot slimmer, i just hope they are all not wafer thin.

I really think this is the best decision i have made and i cant believe i didnt do it sooner, but its done now and im loving it. I get to start mushies on Thursday im so excited for scrambled eggs!!!

My mum keeps saying that I am not even fat and its just my body shape! and gets mad When I say mum, Talk to my doctor! I am morbidly obese! I know she is just being nice but it is that attitude that helps me to fail.

Realistically even health wise! it is not ok to be this way, not even going into appearance!

We have all made great descitions for ourselves

Hey there

I work in an office, sitting around pretty much all day, I had my surgery on the Thursday and was back to work on the Monday.

I was a little uncomfy on the first day but after that I was fine, now a month in I cant even feel the band anymore, its great

So im back from my trip to Melbourne! I had an awesome time! I want to go back!

On the flight i was fine, nothing out of the ordinary, but when i landed and was on the bus getting taken to the city i felt really tight in the stomach, it was awful i just breathed and after about 10 mins it was gone. That being said when i flew back to Adelaide i didnt have that after landing so im not too sure what it was.

I ate omg! I had scrambled eggs for Breakfast at the Hotel which were amazing! lunch i tried to buy as mushy as i could get, usually i would pick at my partners chips. Then dinner was spaghetti but i kept ordering ones with no meat (annoying) but maybe that it a good thing.

I did eat a few Krispy Kreme donuts, they were fine, i chewed them so much! I didnt have any problems with eating in Melbourne which was great.

So this week im going to get into the mushy thing and see what happens, i dont think ive lost anything this week due to my eating chips and donuts but meh i had an awesome time for the 3 days i was there!

hi everyone

my surgery is tomorrow! feeling a little nervous about the op but really looking forward to my new start!

i just jumped on the scales to see if ive lost weight during my fast, but im not sure if i trust my scales now coz its 7kg since i weighed myself 2 weeks ago! weird

i spent the day with my partner on sun, she said she wanted to "say goodbye" to my curves. made me feel like i was taking something away from her. I assured her i'll still have curves at 80kg i wont be a stick figure. And she understands why i want to do this.

hope everyone is going well! i'll be back after my surgery :blushing:

Good luck Kitty!

7kgs is great for pre-surgery loss. I lost 7.2kgs before surgery. It was a great kickstart.

Looking forward to hearing how it all went!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
