How much to expect in first two months

Recommended Posts

So I'm going to have my surgery on April 8th, but I'm going to be in a wedding on June 20th. The tux fitting was today. I told the person assisting us in the fitting about my upcoming surgery and she sd to wait two weeks before the wedding. If you stay on track most of the time how much can you reasonably expect to lose in the first couple of months?

I can only speak for myself, but I was 310 three weeks pre op, 303.5 day of surgery on 2/17/09 and just had my 8 week check up today and I was 265.5. So I'm down a total of 44.5 pounds, and 38 of it in 8 weeks since surgery. Just FYI I am 5' 7 1/2" and was a Marine so I have a decent amount of muscle underneath. Everyone is different, but I am also exercising by doing cardio 5 times a week and light weights twice a week now.

I am one month past surgery and am down 25 pounds since and down 40 from pre-op diet. From what I have read you should expect about 10 pounds a month, but men seem to lose more. Better wait as long as possible to have that Tux fitted. :)

For me, it comes off pretty fast. Just try to think about the foods you eat, make sure you do Protein first, and eat the most nutritious foods before anything else. You should do well. My two month surgery anniversary was on the 13th and I'm down 44 lbs already.

It would certainly be wise to wait until two weeks before the wedding.

If you exercise and stay on your doctors plans you should lose 20 to 25 lbs.

With all due respect sir,no one ever "was a Marine".A Marine is always a Marine.

Fireman well put. For those who are not Marines I was just trying to express that I'm not an active Marine anymore. Although thats probably self evident because if I was still active I never would have gotten to the point of needing a Lap Band, lol.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
