Hi all,

I know my band is working because, according to my home scale I've lost two more pounds. I'm learning to recognize when I'm full; had Cereal about three hours ago, and still am not hungry. I'm exercising and drinking water--I probably could drink a little more, but I'm doing all right.

The problem is when I'm lying in certain positions the scar on my left hurts. I guess it's more like a sting. Sometimes I'm afraid that it's a pulling sensation. It's hard when I touch it, so maybe that's keloids? It's above my port, and that's not giving me any trouble.

I'm scheduled for another fill on April 23, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this. I've been thinking of just calling my doctor's office, but I've been doing ok. I've read posts where it's suggested that, even if that's true, it doesn't hurt to call, and I probably will, now that I'm writing this. Still, I'd like to hear any experiences, or suggestions anyone has to offer. Encouragement is good, too. :welldoneclap:

Thanks in advance.

Debbie

Yes ask your doc but it sounds to me like an adhesion?

That's one reason I started out sleeping on my stomach etc..I didn't want adhesions to form. Let us know what your doc says!

Thank you, Restless. :welldoneclap: Is there anything that can be done for it?

I'm definitely calling my doctor Monday.

If it IS an adhesion the only real treatment is to just stretch and tough it out and hope it will lessen, depending on how long it's been there etc. (My husband had a dog bite with some adhesions, which is how I learned about them and learned I didn't want them! LOL)

And it may NOT be one...good to ask your surgeon.

For some extreme cases they do surgery, but surgery is what caused the prob. in the first place and it just makes MORE scar tissue. Since I had 2 operations in under 3 weeks, using same sites, I was really alert to making sure I moved, stretched, and kept things moving while I healed. So if yours in an adhesion, moving and stretching will hurt initially but should help minimize it.

Good luck! :welldoneclap:

Here's a link to a page about adhesions...(probably way more info than you are interested in)

Adhesions, General and After Surgery

In a nutshell, post surgery, it's when tissue becomes attached to other tissue , but it wasn't connected before the surgery. It happens as we heal and tissues are "together".

To prevent adhesions you want to move the tissues so they don't "connect", if that makes sense? (this is really basic here but I think you get the drift).

Instead of being very careful with my abdomen, babying myself, walking stooped over because it "pulls" etc I started out from the minute I got home walking normally, moving, twisting, everything but lifting. I slept on my stomach to keep it all stretched out. That type of "normal" movement will help prevent adhesions from forming and giving me trouble later. You don't want to be so vigorous that you pop your stitches, but normal movement as I've described is really helpful.

So start now! :welldoneclap:

I was walking a few hours after surgery, and I continued walking on the treadmill when I got home. I did not, however, sleep on my stomach. I haven't done that in years. I was even uncomfortable on my side for a while, but reading what you say RestlessMonkey, I'm going to try sleeping on my left side, something I did before I got my band. I have laid on my stomach, but not slept that way. Ok, no more babying! :welldoneclap:

My scars don't hurt, but they itch like crazy! I was just banded on 3/30 so I know it is part of the healing process but it is killing me! Let us know what your doc says.

Well wouldn't you know it? My scar hasn't hurt since Saturday night. I'm using pillows to support my stomach--I was doing that before, but it seems better, so I didn't call my doctor. I seem to be able to lay on my right side, and I've been stretching, and bending, all stuff I normally do. Anyway, it seems to be helping. Thank you, RestlessMonkey

Debbie.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
