Recommended Posts

I was banded 01-05-09 and i am down only 30 lbs. I know that is a BIG accomplishment but i feel like i should have lost more. My doctor is very encouraging and is always telling me not to dwell too much on numbers right now because i am loosing inches. And i am, im down almost 2 pant sizes and 2 shirt sizes. I guess im just impatient to reach my goal, i dont know. Does anyone have any tips or have you guhys ever felt like that????....any good, filling foods that yall love? any kinda of help would be great!! :scared2:

I feel the same way. I have been losing 2lbs a week, so I guess I should be happy, but I keep thinking I should be losing more. When I went to the Dr's he said it was great, I just wish my goal were closer.

I feel exactly like you ( my surgery was on 1/12) and do keep trying to feel better about the accomplishment so far!

It is hard, particularly when you see others' tickers and see huge losses.

Think though of what you have done! 30 lbs! 30 lbs !

Try carrying a 30 lb rock around in a bag - it puts it all into perspective!

My surgeon also has told me to only weigh in once a week, and to worry more about the changing fitting of my clothing rather than the number on the scale - hard to do, but if you think of that then you feel GREAT.

Keep up the good work!

1st month for me is about 20lbs, I feel that I will lose 8-10lbs a month here after,so in 5 months I should be 60lbs lighter, well hopefully anyway. I weighted the same for 5 days then lost 1lb the next day, this is the 2nd time it has happened for me that way.

U are doing great!!! My doc told me most people only use about a pound a week so loosing 2 lbs a week is great. I have lost 62 lbs since my surgery on Oct 29,2008 so I am loosing a little over 2 lbs a week. Remeber with the lap-band you are going to loose it slower verses the gasrtic by-pass surgery. I get discouraged from time to time but I look at what I have done and think wow I have never lost this much in my life time. Keep up the great work it will pay off. God bless!!

I am so glad that I found this post. I had my surgery on 12-23-08. I have lost 30.5 pounds. I feel like I'm not doing so well BUT reading this has helped a lot! I have had 3 fills. The last one has caused a little choking with meals. Usually when I eat too fast. I have to excuse myself, go to the restroom and get it up and out! Even though this has happened a couple of times I'm still not sure if the band is small enough. I know that changes with weight loss, etc. I also think stress could be a factor of the food not going down well. Am I correct? Has anyone else had that problem?

Wow all of your stories are great.I don't seem to be doing that well I weighed 217 on my surgery day 12/31/09 and today 04/05/09 I only weigh 210 pounds. My progress don't seem as successful as everyone elses, what do I need to do?I should at least be losing 8-10 lbs a month right putting me at 187lbs losing 30lbs or so.I'm eating oatmeal everyday, having a weight watchers meal with about 250-300 calories per meal, and drinking lots of green tea to boost my metabolism. Why is this task so hard for me?Someone pls help~~~~~~~~

I tried to search around on your profile for your weight because that's a good determinant of how much you should be losing. Research says that you should lose no more than 1% of your body weight each week. So you had your surgery 12 weeks ago - that equates to about 2.5 lbs a week (MAX). So if you're between say 250 and 300 you're doing FAB! Good luck!

Slow and steady wins the race guys. I was never a fast loser either, no more than 1-2lb per week (which I considered FANTASTIC) yet here I am 3 years later, all that extra weight gone and quite happy to wear a bikini in public.

It adds up over time, incredibly.

You are doing great! Lap band is a slow process. How many fills have you had? A lot of people feels no restriction for several months. If we could have done it on our own we would have. You are being too hard on yourself. Love yourself for losing 10 pounds! Have you pictured 10 pounds of butter? That's 40 sticks! You have lost that much. As your band is tightened you will lose more! Great job! Keep up the good work! You didn't mention Protein. Are you drinking your Protein Drink? :smile2:

Everyone looses at their own speed so dont try to compare what you have lost to what others have lost. Comparing yourself will only make you depressed, trust me, I have learned that the hard way. We are all impatient to reach our goal weight but you have to remember, we didn't put the weight on over night and its not going to come off overnight and we had the lapband not the bypass so it will take longer to come off. As long as you do as you are suppose to, IT WILL COME OFF RATHER IF IT COMES OFF SLOWLY, THEN SO BE IT. 30lbs since Jan. is really good and nothing to turn your head at. This month I will be 8 months out and I have only lost 60 pounds, I know that is not as much as some people have lost but it's great for me and its 60lbs that WILL NEVER HAUNT MY BODY AGAIN.

As for filling foods, try foods that have a high amount of Protein, chicken is good and seems to fill me up faster and I still filled up longer when I eat it also.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
