Second week post op - boy oh boy

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I had my surgery on 24 March 09 and am really looking forward to watching the scales drop in number little by little

Have been overweight my whole life and initially struggled with the idea of Lap Band surgery, because I felt that if I did it, I would be admitting complete and utter failure and it would just prove that I had absolutely no self control. HOwever I have since decided that I don't really care if that's what it means or not, because I wanted to change and I knew that this procedure would be able to help me change. And it has!

I have experienced great weight loss in the last few weeks and I realise that this will slow down, however for now it's a great boost.

I'm looking forward to reading everyone's stories and experiences!

Hi Kiwi Girl in oz...Congratulations on making your decision! After all this journey is about us and our decisions and not who or what anybody thinks about our choice. I too was reluctant to choose this form of extreme weight loss but in the end made the decision because its me who has to live with it and im so glad now 1 week post op that i have chosen this path. Good luck for you in the future and I hope that you get everything you want out of YOUR journey. By the way out of curiousity can you tell me what your weight started at and what you are now? Ive lost 6.1kg in my first 6 days and although im still healing I'm so keen to see what the future holds for me! Keep Well.... Lisa, Western Australia

Congrats! I know it wasn't an easy decision to make but think of your band as a tool to help you lose weight. believe me the lap band is not an easy way out. You have to work hard, diet and exercise if you want to see results. good luck!

Libbyjane, you are so right. Anybody who thinks this is giving up and taking the easy way out has no clue! It's a HUGE help every day, but you could choose to keep eating junk and not be successful. But if you work this, do what you are advised to do, you can make the right choices and succeed! Good luck!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
