I Made It Through My First Fill - Barely

Recommended Posts

Hey - I'm not as big a weenie as I thought. I got my first fill today. It was 1.8cc in the Inamed medium band (I don't remember what the cc capacity is in that one). I started having a little bit of a panic attack and once thought I was gona pass out - but I didn't. WEIRD feeling though -drinking Water and actually feeling it go down. Jen (Hotlikeher) came with me to hold my hand and ended up holding my feet - they won't stop shaking when I'm really nervous. YEAH for ME!!! Now maybe I'll actually start the scale moving downward again.

Yippeee!!! Let us know in a few days how your restriction is. I'm thinking the "medium" band is the 10cm/4cc band? If so, that sounds about right to have 1.8cc for your first fill. Good for you!!!

Cheryl,

I too went for my first fill. I only had 1cc. put in and so far I really can't tell a difference. If I don't get some restriction after this weekend I will call and get another little tweak in it. I was scared of the fill also.

Hi, I had my first fill yesterday...they put in .5cc. After reading other posts, I know it could take a few weeks for it to kick in. I just ate some mushy food today, and I have noticed that I am feeling fuller longer than I was without the fill, and that's great for me! Cindy

I'm able to eat mushies now. I had to wait 48 hours after the fill to eat. It was a little scary at first - since I could still feel liquids going down, but I did fine - works great - eat about 1/2 as much as I could before the fill. As soon as the scale and NSV's stop - I'll go back for another. Still a big sissy - but at least I know what I'm in for.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
