Friday Weigh Ins

Recommended Posts

I've failed the band. But I am here to atone and move on.. or should I say move down? I've only had 1 fill and have completely gone off track and broken every rule out there. It's been a crazy 6 months between deaths, financial issues and work casios. None of it is worthy of blame, I own that. But I will not let my life continue to slide out of control. Rock bottom here I am, now the only way to go is up!

Good job Heather! We're here to support you, and it's never to late for any of us to get back on the band wagon again!

No change for me this week.......ugh...

Guess I should be ok with that since treats have been around and I bought a box (small box) of bourbon balls last weekend that I've munched on a bit (1 or 2 a day).

Busy week coming materials for new flooring arrived yesterday cleaning out the living room and kitchen to get ready for installation on Monday.

Good Morning. 234.5 today.

Huge family gathering on Thursday night, so I'll probably do my Friday Weigh In on Thursday next week. (or skip it altogether)

283.00 which is -2 lbs this week. I made an appointment with my Doc for 1/12. I've only had one fill. I'm sure I'm going to be in for a major lecture.

Some other things I've done to get back on track:

1. Made appointment with Therapist. Need to get to the root of why I always set myself up to fail. Why don't I ever finish what I start? Why do I let stress = eating? Why, why, why?! Thought I was in a better place before being banned, I guess I was just fooling myself because I wasn't dealing with major stress at that point. Clearly I have to change in more ways.

2. Signed up with a friend to do a Biggest Loser like competition at our health club. We will be teamed up with two strangers. 12 week program starting 1/12 (same day as my Doc visit). They measure you & give health/exercise assesment the first week. Weekly weigh ins recorded and sent to all participants. Well they send % of weight loss, they do not share your weight.

3. Ordered new jeans in a size smaller. I will get in those soon!!

Friday came & went & I forgot to log! 163.8 - yep thats a nice loss, I had my 6th and maybe final fill on Wednesday and my surgeon requires 48 hours of Clear liquids after - so yeah, I lost. And I have great restriction now, with only a .25cc fill! Yay.

Heather, you are doing exactly the right thing setting up an appointment with someone who can help you with the eating patterns. It is my #1 issue. I have the food intake part down and the exercise part down, but no one did surgery on this brain that has spend 47 years establishing certain nueral pathways that I now have to re-wire. It is hard, hard work!

I take a 4-week series of classes in Overcoming Emotional Eating every 2 months, and it has been SOOO helpful. Also David Kessler's book The end of overeating (or something like that) and the Beck Diet Solution - the book and the workbook. It's all about the head hunger, and it doesn't just go away because you can't eat as much anymore. The very best thing that I have done for my head hunger is to keep a detailed log of everthing I eat, my hunger at the time I ate it (on a scale of 1-5) and what my emotions were at the time - especially for snacking. I bought a journal in a health food store that has spaces to log stuff like that. When I log, drink my Water, and get to the gym, I lose. When I stop, I don't lose - but I don't gain too much either.

Good luck!

I weighed in at 230 this week. Guess that's pretty good since I've indulged a bit in holiday treats.

Down a pound this week...just .5 and I'll be at 75# (my next goal). I can't even believe I lost weight over Christmas...I ate snacks/appetizers, drank lots of alcohol and ate a little of everything, including a few Cookies. I'm starting to feel 'normal' when it comes to food LOL! I love my band!

I was 165, so up a tad but I think the dreaded "carb bloat" accounts for it! Groupie I am with you, I can eat a little of anything and be perfectly happy - I feel "normal" about/around food for the first time in my life! Loving, loving, loving my band  BUT . . . still SO much head work to do!

I had to deal with some super-intense emotions this week for the first time since being banded, and it was really hard because 1) I knew I could not "stuff" my feelings with food - it would all have come right back up thank you band!; and 2) I needed to avoid drowning my feelings with alcohol - the stats on bariatric surgery patients developing a replacement addiction with alcohol are staggering - like 35% - so I am hyper aware of that one (not that I don't drink, mind you; I only wish to avoid "needing" to drink). SO how do I deal with these feelings? I went for a run; I went to the gym and pumped iron; I went to church . . all of which helped, but the bottom line is that I can't avoid/stuff/medicate intense feelings anymore. I have to actually feel them, and they are uncomfortable . . . . it's hard, people! By far the hardest thing about this journey.

Good luck to all in this new year!!

Oh, I don't want to do this . . . 168! Yikes, I am going WAY the wrong way! Like almost 5 lbs in 2 weeks! I continue to work out 4-5 times a week and I have not eaten enough cals for that to be real, but still . . I don't like to see the scale moving the wrong way!

Even so, my clothes keep getting looser - I can't believe I am still losing inches! All of the 10s I tried on today were too big, I tried a pair of 8s and could easily zip them up . . too tight (for me) to wear out in public yet, but they are pretty darned close - so I'm between an 8 and a 10, and 8 is my goal size. So close size-wise!'

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Riley- thank you for the book suggestions, I'm waiting for them to arrive any day. I read Look Great, Feel Great last week. I need to keep myself aware and honest about what I'm doing.

I'm starting the 5 day pouch test tomorrow. I have to stock up on liquids tonight.

I'm so nervous about going back to my Doc on the 12th. I know that I have to face the music, that I've failed my band. I hate getting in trouble or letting others down. Clearly I don't have a problem letting down myself :blushing::thumbup:. Work in progress... I will be the fit healthy person I want to be. I am that person, just have some extra baggage right now.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
